My Informative Speech: Landsmeer Golf Club

Improved Essays
Starting off, I had a really fun experience preparing for and constructing my Informative speech. The format of the speech is great because it lets the students select a topic that they are interested in and allows them to talk about a topic they are passionate about. I choose the topic of Landsmeer Golf Club because it was interesting for me to gain even more knowledge on a topic that I was familiar with. When preparing for my speech, I started off making a rough draft outline, and also making a bibliography. After that was complete, I started to practice and rehearse my speech in front of the mirror. I made notecards and wrote down the information that I was having trouble remembering. When the time came to give my speech, I was very comfortable, …show more content…
Something that I felt I did well was keeping my composure and using a really good tone of voice. One thing that I needed to work on was my introducing. I played a video clip of a flyover map of Landsmeer Golf Club, which was very interesting and graphic. However, I wish that I would have explained what the video was about before I presented it to my fellow classmates, so that they could get an idea of what my topic was going to be about. Things that happened during my speech was that the USB disk was not connecting correctly and so we had to figure out the technical difficulties before I presented the speech. The other unexpected event was the I lost my voice during the speech due to a cough, so I regathered myself and carried on with it, which I think I handled well. The experience I had with the SHIELD Speech and the Informative Speech were very similar, however there were some differences. Differences were things such as how I dress up during my informative speech and not my SHIELD Speech. From now on I will try to dress up during my speeches because I believe that dressing fancy increases confidences and makes them have a positive

As for the delivery aspect of my speech, according to the video, I had a good posture and used my flash cards very well, which were very helpful in delivering my speech.…

    1. I believe there were some positive aspects of my speech. Firstly, I was not a nervous when speaking in front of the audience. This allowed me to have the speech flow smoother than last time. I was not expecting the audience to be as large as it was this time; but I think the increase of people might have helped easy some of my anxiety.…

Once I’m able to do this, I think that skill will carry over past the class and help me in my specific career path which is one of the most important things about the class to me. Another idea that the book mentioned that I think could be good for me is using movement to minimize anxiety. “You don’t have to stand perfectly still behind the podium when you deliver a speech. Walk around as you make some of your points. Movement relieves tension and helps hold the audience’s attention.”…

What do I think I could have done better? I should have been more confident because I did prepare for this speech as much as I could have. My anxiety was at an all-time high with this speech because I suffer from post concussive disorder, this effects my ability to read and my short term memory. I almost gave up and asked for more time because of my disability which is something that I have never done before. However, my pride wouldn’t let me do it…

I wanted to speak louder and clearer, but it was hard for me because I was very sick and losing my voice. That did not help me unfortunately, but I still tried as hard as I could to make myself speak louder. During this speech I was also able to control my nerves a little better than the first time. I was less nervous this time than I have ever been publicly speaking in my life. I felt a little shaky, but I didn’t have any pins and needles or numbness in my face, which I am very proud of.…

While delivering this speech I felt okay, but I guess that was based on my mood not the actual speech. The strength of my speech was the first body paragraph, because it demonstrates how hard my dad work for the family. Which also make the audience understand why he is qualified for the award. When I glance at the time today, I’ve noticed I already spoke for four minutes. Thank god, I checked otherwise I probably would have went over the time limit.…

When I am up front in of an audience various things happen to me. My face starts to get hot and red really quick so then the room becomes very hot as well. Along with my hands start to get sweaty so that causes me to move my fingers around to make them not as sweaty. I like to shift my weight back and forth because it keeps me moving. Also when I am giving a speech I feel like I can only make eye contact with the person that is grading me and just glance at the audience here and there.…

After noticing the speaker’s confidence during the speech, it became clear that his calmness and ability to speak clearly, his ability to refer to his notes and to use the power point at the same time and also his ability to ensure he was the source of the information he was giving made his delivery good. This informative speech could have been improved with more body movement during the transitions and a good eye contact with the…

Up during my speech specificly the last one, i felt super nervous, but looking back i appeared confident and great body gestures. The one thing that doesn 't surprise me is that in all my speeches i managed to have a great tone of voice and enthusiasm. Personally my strongest performance had to be the persuasive speech, after looking at it i noticed i looked the most confident, my content, my structure, and my transitions were spot on. My weekest performance however was my first speech, i looked so nervous, i had very little content, i was not into the speech, no transitions, and like i said i learned a lot from this…

You are in class one day when the teacher announces a new assignment: students are to research and give an informative speech about any topic of their choosing. As the student, imagine that you are terrified to not only present the speech in front of your entire class, but to have to go through the process of picking a topic, researching it, organizing your speech, and practicing it as well. At the beginning of my communication class, this was how I felt about producing and giving speeches. I was nervous to talk in front of the class because I have always been very shy and have suffered from extreme speech apprehension. I also dreaded picking a topic and organizing my speeches as well, since I could never make up my mind and I was never good…

I did great with the speech organization like the introduction, main points, transitions, and the conclusion. I made several undesirable actions such as standing on one spot of the presenter area, and not using proper eye contact. Besides, I wasn't improvising when delivering my speech even though I wrote it myself. That was because of many factors, and the leading cause was time, I didn't get enough time to prepare my self for the actual speech. Another thing was that my spoken English is not at the same level as my topic level.…
