On my last speech, I discussed why I believe elite college athletes should be paid. I was very satisfied with how my speech went. I was able to improve on my speaking because I worked on the body language portion of my speech increasingly, I was more confident going into the speech, and I feel I persuaded my audience to agree with me. As I prepared for my speech, I worked on my body language and vocal variation. On my last speech, I was docked points for lack of vocal variation, eye contact, and gestures. While working on my persuasive speech, I worked on memorizing more of my speech. My goal was to be able to look at my notecards minimally, and I believe I accomplished this goal. I was able to memorize my introduction and conclusion. Also, I worked on changing my tones and being a more exciting speaker. Finally, I was able to improve my gestures. In my previous speech, I had used two concrete gestures. As I practiced, I worked on talking with my hands. This method felt a little unnatural to me, but I got used to it. …show more content…

I enjoyed informing the class about facts they had most likely never heard. I liked the feeling of confidence I had as I gave my speech. My goal is to become increasingly confident with every speech I

I had just written out my speech on my notecards that morning before school.…

Final Persuasive Speech Reflection Believe me when I say that my progress from then to now has come a long way. Initially after giving the persuasive speech, I felt that there has been little process in all of this time that I had spent trying to learn to communicate more effectively. Worst of all perhaps, I felt powerless to do anything to change this. This was my most practiced speech and it did not feel that way. Even the thought of having to go back and essentially relive those 7 minutes was not something I was particularly excited about.…

You are in class one day when the teacher announces a new assignment: students are to research and give an informative speech about any topic of their choosing. As the student, imagine that you are terrified to not only present the speech in front of your entire class, but to have to go through the process of picking a topic, researching it, organizing your speech, and practicing it as well. At the beginning of my communication class, this was how I felt about producing and giving speeches. I was nervous to talk in front of the class because I have always been very shy and have suffered from extreme speech apprehension. I also dreaded picking a topic and organizing my speeches as well, since I could never make up my mind and I was never good…

This was reinforced by feedback I received which said “you seemed slightly nervous at first but then as confidence grew the teaching became increasingly better.” I felt this was due to a lack of preparation and could have easily been resolved by practice and repetition. Also, next time I will prepare some notes to prompt me and to ensure I do not forget to mention any important details the students may…

I sometimes get nervous about what people are thinking about my speech when I am giving it but if I don’t judge people from the audience then I will have the mindset when I am on stage that people from the audience are not judging me. Lastly, I think that I will be able to get up in front of people and give a speech without getting extremely nervous. I haven’t had much experience with speaking in front of big groups but hopefully by the end of this semester I will be very good at it without having any nervous feelings if someone asked me to give a public…
