In Florida, state officials can be removed from office if they make any attempt to implement stricter gun policies. Therefore, states like Florida do not take any sort of action against gun violence. Other states have taken it into their own hands and imposed new bills such as the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement act. This was established by the state of New York and put a ban on the sale of new or used AR-15s, as well as other rifles with military style features. Although states have began to take action, there hasn’t been a national ban on assault rifles since 2004. Since then Congress has yet to establish any other policies or laws regarding gun control. Politicians like Marco Rubio, John McCain, Richard Burr,and many others, receive thousands of dollars from the NRA every year. Members of the Texas congressional delegation have acquired $427,800 from the NRA since 1998 but politicians still claim that the money they receive has no influence on the political system. The main reason legislators are refusing to create new and stricter gun laws is simply because they don’t believe that’s guns are the problem.
