The American government’s job should be to minimize the use of unsafe gun buying. It is American citizens right to own a gun. This right should not be taken away, but made safer for everyone. Mexico is a prime example of why gun control should not be suffocating the rights of the citizens.
Though gun control is a necessary thing, many are against stricter gun control laws. Those opposed to stricter gun control laws would state that gun control would have no effect on reducing crime (Gottieb 1991). The organization actively fights legislature that would enact gun control laws. Gun control laws are used to protect people and not to infringe on their rights. The way the National Rifle Association fights legislator seems like they want anyone and everyone to have a gun. The NRA is right when stating that guns are a constitutional right, but they are wrong in saying who should get them. Giving someone a gun that was deemed mentally unstable should not be given a gun. If the person is unstable then no one knows what he or she could do or what he or she would do. If a person who has been convicted of a violent crime is able to gain a gun, then they could use it to commit other violent crimes. It is true that no one knows how any one will actually use a gun. A perfectly healthy person could end up doing violent and terrible acts. A person convicted of a crime or deemed unfit could be perfectly fine with a gun. T is true to say that anyone could act in any way with a gun, but gun control might just be able to prevent some of the crimes from happening.
