I personally am more visual. In class, I am more likely to remember something if it is presented as a picture or demonstration than I am if the teacher is just standing at the front talking about it. Verbal information does not process in my mind as well as visual information does. One way that I use my visual style well is how I take my notes. I always highlight the most important concepts and then it is easier for me to remember them and also easier for me to find them. Although I believe the sensitive style best reflects me, the visual style is also an important factor in the way I …show more content…
I am definitely more sequential. As I have stated more than once already, I learn best when I follow something step by step. Sequential learners do not need to know the whole concept in order to solve problems like global learners do. We can get by knowing only part of it and still be able to do something with the information. I do have a hard time, though, when things are all scattered around randomly. It is hard for me to follow the information, but I am able to fill in the missing pieces most of the time (Soloman & Felder, n.d.). To me, sequential learning kind of goes hand in hand with sensitive learning so it also describes me pretty well.
It was interesting to take the questionnaire and figure out my personal preferences when it comes to learning. Since I now know how I best learn information, it is going to be easier to study for exams. I learned that the best way for me to retain information is by either seeing it or following a series of steps. Now when I take notes or study, I am going to still highlight but also I think it would help me to write it down. That will help because I will be seeing it not only once but twice. I think since I now know about my learning styles, I will be able to enhance my academic
