Personal Narrative: We As Civilization

Improved Essays
We - as civilization - are shaped by our interactions with people. Some people have an engaged personality; generally bold or active. Other people tend to have a shy or introverted personality, preferring to be engaged in a small group of friends and stray from large groups. I am both partially introverted and extroverted, but prefer the latter.
Reading is such a major part of my life; from the time I could comprehend the written word, I had always turned towards book. Growing up, I had at most 2 friends, no more. It didn’t interest me what the ‘new trend’ was or what was considered to be popular. School didn’t matter to me, my books and family were the only thing that I had a connection with. Books are my escape; my getaway from life, and my family taught me many life lessons. My group of friends helped me out of my ‘shell’. I started paying attention to what’s going on in the world, something I

Granted I made good grades, but I knew there was always room for improvement. Looking back now, I wish I had cared, and put the effort to make great grades. Infinity ECHS has a major impact on my life, and I have learned many things; time management, career opportunities, and, last but not least, Infinity has shown me that you can have work, but still have fun. The first semester of Infinity I solely focused on schoolwork. I was afraid of receiving bad grades or getting overwhelmed by the homework. History and English were my undoing, I struggled to memorize people with dates or stay on topic in an essay. Math, Science, and Spanish were my strong suit therefore I didn’t study as much for those subjects, and even so, I had maintained an A average throughout the year; Speck’s advisory had kept the shield all year long. When I came to Infinity, I quickly learned it wasn’t like your typical other schools. Teachers and students have a more established relationship than you would find at a public

I start creating my work by replaceing traditional lighting associated with photgraphy with the lighting of tv screens. Then I continue following an image by also removing the figure as the main portion of the image , to make the figure less important. Finally, when i capture these images I use long exposures which creates a stillness of the image, except for the human figure, which creates this blurr and motion in the image. My images are a series of self portriats.…

Cars Growing up I had fell in love with cars. I constantly was trying to get my hands on all the hot wheels and remote control cars that I could. I was infatuated with them. There was just something about that sweet sound of a turbocharger making a “swoooosh” noise as it spun super fast, or the loud, deep engine of a hellcat. When the time had come to when I turned 16 and took my drivers test, I was more than ready to be behind the wheel of car.…

A few days ago, my boyfriend Taylor and I watched some of “When We Rise.” It sparked some interesting conversations between us. We were watching it and I was embarrassed to admit it at first, but the intimate scenes were making me a little uncomfortable. I was somewhat confused because I have always been accepting of homosexuality and did not understand the dissonance I was experiencing.…

Center stage. A single actor in a pool of white light, his jaw opening to sing the first note of “Santa Fe” from the musical, NEWSIES. That is the director’s main goal, in my opinion; to captivate audiences within the first couple of seconds. One of the director’s main roles is to help guide actors during rehearsals. When I was younger, nine or ten, my elementary school teacher told me that I could be an excellent teacher.…

A Little Less Than Human The truck I'm in is cramped and dark, I honestly don't know how many people are in it. All I know is that they are all the same as me now they're all, a little less than human. It takes another hour or two until we finally reach our destination, a Jewish concentration camp. I don't see how many others are in the truck with me until the doors swing open.…

The Way We Were When I was a kid, I used to pretend I was an agent, on a top-secret quest to stop the mal-intentioned leader of a powerful nation from detonating a bomb or winning a war, completing the final step in a somehow lethal trade agreement. In my imagination, there was no evil too big overcome, no plot too complex to be thwarted, no genius too clever to be out-smarted. And I was always the one to stop him, to figure everything out at the last minute and save the world. As an eight-year-old, I saw the world in them and us, bad and good, black and white.…

In this famous quote by Mark Twain, he discusses how he views the importance of finding ones meaning in life, and what it means to them to be a human. To many people, being human is about being free, or just being kind. To fully be human one must not only show one single trait but many traits. There are many texts and lectures that have influenced what it means to me to be human. Texts such as Machinal by Sophie Treadwell and speakers like Chris Baker of Ink 180 have shown me what it truly means to be human.…

My jacket was thrown in a heap on the couch, and I was slouched on the stiff wooden chair, wearing my Westminster College t-shirt. Of course, the golden retriever and huskies were prancing at my feet, trying to gain my attention. in the background, the television was blaring, but the noise was not registering in my head. My heart was overcome with nervousness, beating like a jackhammer at the ground.…

There is a lot of people in the world that can count on one hand how many times they have done something that they felt was important, and received no recognition. There are people that will gravitate towards the idea of getting recognition for their good deeds. That only let me be aware of any thing you try to do for me, you will have a hidden agenda. I feel that most people do things because they can help, or maybe they just like to teach people to be more like them, and some may get some type of enjoyment from staying in the background.…

They have equal rights with you and you should treat them as you wish they treat you and you should not treat them in ways that you do not like to be treated.” (Taee) Models of health and healing There are three different eras in medicine, however I am going to discuss the first 2 eras and how they relate to what it means to be human.…

Writing is my passion. I love telling tales of exhilarating adventures in fantastical lands; mapping out the route of young love in words; inventing superheroes and villains to face off in the ultimate battle of good and evil. In fact, it was my childhood. I remember being five years old when I wrote my first ever 'book '. It was seven tiny pages, barely one hundred words long in total, and called 'The New Place ' because I couldn 't spell 'palace '.…

There are thoughts that don’t leave our minds, when we start something new our mind stop to think in even more things. I’m living far from family for more than four years, in the middle of this time I also went to Japan and came to United Sates. Being far from my family make me think about past, what we did together and what I was feeling back there. I also can say that staying far made me more depressed, I started thinking about giving up of several things and start thinking about being alone. All the essays has the family element and “progress” in their focus because of my thoughts, because I continue far from my family and I’m tired of giving up of things since this is not my personality.…
