Diversity in a workplace is, the differences among employees in age, sex, culture, religion and background that they bring to the organization. In this case, to increase the diversity in the HIT department, we can start with developing policies that help in increasing the diversity for example policy for bad activities as bullying and teasing which discourage diversity. Nondiscrimination policy which requires, existing and potential employees to agree to it. And reviewing the policies related to recruitment, promotion, employee performance, and other existing employment policies. The second action will be creating a diversity team which will take care of reviewing employment systems and select proper programs. The effective

Therefore, we can ask the leader of HIM department to be a member of the diversity team, and ask HIT employees for referrals, since they may have qualified candidates looking for work. Also, we can let one of HIT employees responsible for the employee satisfaction survey. HIT employees have positive aspects that can help to implement the diversity plan. HIT staff deal with all the hospital personnel and they also deal with some business associate to the hospital, therefore their ability to deal with different culture, age and gender do exist. They have so much experience, that they can mentor new employees. On the other hand, they could have some of the negative aspects that could affect the plan. One of those negative could be the typical negative stereotype related to older workers, that they are not as productive and flexible as younger workers. we can deal with this challenge by offer continuing training and learning opportunities to all employees regardless of age. Those people could have a social identity since all of them are the same gender. A person belonging to a social group is more likely to discriminate against one belonging to another group which considered a psychological barrier to developing the diversity. So we will focus on ethical and respectful behavior and push employees to act with dignity and decency towards each other in all circumstances. There are many barriers to improving workplace diversity, but decent planning and collaborative between the managers, and human resources will definitely make it
