Diversity is people, and places that are different. As an example, having different races, genders, ages, and ethnicities of people in one place is showing extensive diversity. No one person is the same and all are made up of different cultures and backgrounds. Diversity can also include different opinions of individuals. Outside of the norms of diversity, such race, and genders, there other options in how a workplace is diversified. This comes from allowing the individual employees to express their own opinions on policies, products, and how business is obtained.

Writer Kerby takes an in-depth view of just how the basics of diversity in the workforce has made an impact. Starting with economic growth she states "Businesses that fail to foster inclusive workplaces see higher turnover rates than businesses that value a diverse workforce because they foster a hostile work environment that forces employees to leave. The failure to retain qualified employees results in avoidable turnover-related costs at the expense of a company’s profits.
