The world is a forever changing climate of people. This requires companies to change with the times. The introduction of different cultures, beliefs, and diverse backgrounds requires a new approach for managing a larger arrange of people. People no longer work in a time of intolerance. Diversity is about the many differences that make us individuals and also the similarities that bring us together. Companies should diversify the organizations because it is shown that diversification will increase profits, build a more cohesive work environment, and show appreciation for foreign culture. You will attract the most skilled and educated candidates that will want to work for your company. If you look at the list of top 100 companies to work for in the United States, Google will defiantly be on the top of that list. This would be in part because for the progressive work schedule, free day care, and compensation. Not one of those reasons being its diverse work environment. Google has admitted that there is a lack of diversity within their ranks. The internet giant has acknowledged they have been making slow progress in the way of diversifying their company. Google says “69 percent of its employees are now male, while 31 percent are female.” This is a small improvement over the previous number of 70 percent male and only 30 percent female ratio. This may be because it is said the company spent $150 million in 2015 to promote diversity in the workplace. Although many of the top tech companies have reported having similar problems hiring female and ethnic employees. Many companies understand the advantages of diversity. When introducing diversity into a workforce there can be conflict and problems for organizations that are not equipped to handle these changes appropriately. It is critical for management to master skills to effectively manage diversity. This will lead to an increase in job satisfaction and a more satisfying work environment. When an organization shows appreciation for foreign culture the employees will feel that their needs are being acknowledged and respected. This diversity will lead to increased motivation and an increase in performance. An increase in performance will lead to an increase in productively and profitability. Bringing people together and working in a group is one of the most positive outcomes of diversity.
In today’s workforce there should be more value place on making everyone more comfortable at work. Celebrating someone’s cultures can only improve their morale and being positivity into the work place. Its allow someone to feel comfortable and bring forth there ideas.
