The student learning requirements continue to evolve, and there is a need for proportional evolution of teaching practices. Data-driven instruction is one strategy that is involved in data-informed inquiries that are aimed at enhancing planning, accountability and student performance tracking (Knapp et al., 2006). The need for data-driven teacher leaders continues to increase as the need for evidence-based instruction continues to grow. Data-driven teacher leaders are those who utilize student data in framing the response to the challenges they face, and also bring core values and insights into those aspects of practice for which there is not yet good data, and may never be (Knapp et al., 2006 p. 6).

As a data-driven teacher leader, I have taken to using student performance data to ensure a generalized improved performance. My strategies include collecting data on all student assessments from the beginning of the academic year. Each assessment is separated according to the subject and various student performance in different subjects are recorded. From the information obtained, I have been able to identify different areas which influence student performance using baseline data from the previous class (Bambrick-Santoyo, 2010). The sample student performance data is then categorized into areas of difficulty, strong areas, areas where the majority of the students finds it challenging and weak areas where the overall performance is poor. The data are then used in a PLC session where teacher leaders come up with strategies to improve on the weak student areas. These strategies are then discussed with students before implementation to evaluate their effectiveness in improving student
