Reflection: Week Five
During my midterm evaluation, both TAP and professional related areas of development were discussed. The TAP Area of Reinforcement was identified as Teacher Knowledge of Students (TKS), and the TAP Area of Refinement was designated as Teacher Content Knowledge (TCK). Professional Areas of Reinforcement include Growing and Developing Professionally: Continued Professional Growth and the Professional Area of Reinforcement is Showing Professionalism: Fulfilling Professional Responsibilities. I have worked diligently to improve and strengthen these areas of development since our meeting.

For the TAP Area of Refinement, I have spent more time reading through Arizona’s Early Learning Standards and how they are interrelated with Teaching Strategies Gold. According to the TAP rubric, exemplary implementation of TCK includes displaying “extensive content knowledge of all of the subjects she or he teachers” (ASU, n.d.). As such, I will strive to develop a stronger understanding on each of the content areas. Why would we need to transform our educational system? No Child Left Behind and Common Core Standards raised the bar for student standards, therefore, our educational system must support that change. There are three main themes within the InTASC professional teaching strategies including the idea that children are unique learners, teachers need to have a depth of knowledge on his or her own content areas, and professional responsibility.…
