Everyone believes that college is different than high school, in some ways yes, in others not so much. My high school experience was successful, I had many achievements and memories I will not forget. I have learned lessons that I will remember through the rest of my career. There have been multiple defeats, but also multiple wins. The great thing about athletics is that when you are able to manage getting all of your work done with practices or meets. There have been multiple occasions that we have a track meet the night before a bunch of tests so in order to get a good grade, I make to do lists to keep me on track. This forces me to get my work done in school instead of doing it after a meet when we get home at 9 at night. This helps enable that I get a good night's sleep so I will be ready to learn the next day. In order to maintain good grades I have to have good time-management skills and I do. I am continuing my running career in college so I will have to take all that I have learned in high school and apply it to my academics in college. In college meets will be farther away so we might have to stay the night somewhere missing more than …show more content…
In high school I have taken many accelerated courses that were difficult to me. I am not a student that can just listen in class and then get an A on the test. I have to study or I will fail. I could have just took the easy route and took the basic classes but I decided that I would take the challenge and shoot for an A. I am glad I did because life after high school is going to be challenging. College is more vigorous than high school and your teachers are not going to be as lenient. College sports are going to be the same way for me as I am going to run at Eastern Illinois University which is a Division I school. I am not receiving a scholarship for running I am just a walk-on so I will be slower than most the girls but once again I will be challenging myself to train harder than I ever

Academics and getting a proper education are far more important than participating in any sport. The reason why is because, if a student’s grades are not up to par, it does not matter how good of an athlete they are, the college of their dreams could turn them down. Even if students receive scholarship opportunity, they still have to meet grade point average requirements. Also, your grades and school performance follows you all through your life, even as an adult. If your GPA is low, then most likely you will have a hard time finding a good job as an adult.…

For me high school was rough because of all the classes i had to take and the pressure that was on my shoulders from everyone to do well in those classes. For college, having the classes being a lot harder, I have somewhat been able to succeed a lot better and get better grades. There are a lot of programs that are provided to students in high school that are held at school. Freshman year of high school, I was ecstatic. Yes, being shoved in hallways and three minutes late to every class because of overpopulation everyday sucked, but I was finally a high schooler. Soon, I learned that rumors about being stuffed in a locker was the least of my worries. I was compelled to make life changing decisions about my future and whether or not I wanted to go to college. My sister, Amber, conceived my nephew, Trey, at 16 during her sophomore year, resulting in her flunking out of high school, therefore, I did not have anyone to forewarn me or even give me a fairytale.…

However, after I did not make an Illinois Allstate ensemble my junior year, my approach to these nerve-wracking situations completely changed. Instead of thinking failing negatively, those uncomfortable experiences actually made me improve as I had taken more auditions.…

Essay One Growing up in a small farm town that was more interested in goofing off and just working, didn’t really prepare me for college. Being exposed to several different learning environments since graduating high school, I would definitely have to say it was a rude awaking for me when the military got a hold me and put be through their training environment for new recruits. That being said though, attending a University at a later age and having been exposed to two different ways of educational regiments I am more prepared now than before. School work was considered a joke for most of students growing up and if attendance wasn’t a requirement most of us probably would have never shown up for homeroom.…
