My First Day Of College Essay

I never wanted to move on from high school to college because I did not know if I would like it, but knew at some point, I had to. My first day of college was one of the most nerve wracking days of my life, because it was a new chapter in my life. I was ready for it and was hoping it would be one of the best experiences in my life. The problem was I did not know what to expect from college. My friends and family always told me how different it was going to be than high school and did not know if I was prepared. As I was driving to school it was different because I had to take the highway to school and of course there was an early morning influx. I finally arrived to Middlesex Community College in Bedford and realized there was nobody I knew. The college campus also had a different atmosphere than high school. I arrived at the campus an hour early to explore the campus and to make sure I know where all my classes will be held. As I was meandering the campus was really confusing because there were so many different buildings. I was mentally not …show more content…
I was looking forward to this class because math really interests me. My algebra class was about to start again, and nobody I knew was in this class. My professor was analogous to my English professor, but looked a little younger. This teacher also wanted us to buy a book, but this book was $150. This was probably the worst thing about college, buying books. She was talking about what our expectations are in this class, but said a quote that was truly consequential “Will it be easy? Nope. Worth it? Absolutely.” She also gave us a practice a test, and said we could leave as soon as we finish. The practice test was kind of hard, but that is why she gave it out to help us improve. I finished the practice test, and walked back to my car, congratulating myself for making it through my first day through

She had done a lot of research, and came up with a sentence that she thought was her own. In reality, it was something she had read earlier and forgotten about. She was almost kicked out, but saved by a professor who knew that she would never break character like that. This happened to my English teacher's college friend; she was accused of plagiarism when, in reality, it was all accidental. She had done a lot of research, and came up with a sentence that she thought was her own.…

The sound of my alarm awakened me from a deep coma. Today was the first day of not just any day but the first day of high school. All I could think about was the empowering, negative stories about high school being so repulsive with all the strict teachers, the really difficult tests, and being at the bottom of the food chain once again. “I pray to God that these stories are irrelevant to high school, I implored.” The car ride to Grayson High School was longer than I intended. When I got out of the car, I had no idea where to proceed.…

Coming into a college class made me nervous from the beginning because like many people I was afraid of the unknown. However, I was excited and scared about what was to come and how I would meet the challenges that I would face. At my previous school that I was attending, we wrote essays all the time so that could help prepare ourselves for writing college essays. Fast forward from my freshman year to now, my junior year, I know that I was nervous for no apparent reason. During English 111 I was able to understand more about a what a college class requires and that it is nothing like high school, which is a good thing.…

(Once, I came in twenty minutes late to a class because I intellectually debated with my history teacher about time zones!) I also adjusted very quickly to having only a few classes a day, and continually checking my schedule to make sure that I didn’t miss them became second nature. Due to the fact that I’ve always been mature when it comes to my studies, but I’ve since learned to come to class on time, I feel like a hybrid between both levels of…

Or maybe it’s because I got up early this morning. I get up early and look like a zombie, to go to school 5 days a week. Next year, I will be driving to school with my brothers and how will be able to do that if I am barely even awake in the car when I’m not behind the wheel? Well, maybe we should change that so myself and all the other students who attend Arrowhead are awake when they come to school. I propose that Arrowhead delays the start time of school for an hour.…

Learning and studying in college is a lot different than it was in high school. In high school I could just take the quizzes, test, and in class work, and just blow off all the homework. I would still manage to get B’s and C’s in my classes. In college that strategy does not work. I walked in to class the first day of my new life began right then and there, but I hadn’t realize it.…

Knowing this wasn 't typical of her, I knew that our friendship was all going to change. That friendship taught me more about Chelsea and also with people who aren 't your friends. I arrived to school and the last bell had rung, I rushed through the halls, the dreaded staircase trying to make it to class and avoiding security guards that roamed the halls. I finally made it to my math class, as I walked to my seat I noticed Mr.Ramirez being swarmed by students asking for yellow hall passes. I was able to sneaked into class without catching Mr. Ramirez attention that I was already late.…

Remember that 7:45 class I told you about earlier? Well you probably guessed that I was late on the first day! After asking maybe 15,000 different people for directions I was finally able to find my first and only class for the day. Yes, I was late and it scared me because I didn’t want my professor to get the impression that I was going to the student that was constantly late to class. As I walked into class I was expecting my professor to scold me for being late, but to my surprise she automatically could sense the fact that I had no idea where I was going and what a relief that…

I never felt my writing was perfect, so would I flunk my first college English class? I was used to high school classes, so would I transition into college smoothly? Little did I know, as soon as I sat down in my tiny college desk, I was about to be relieved. My teacher, Gale, changed my entire viewpoint on English 1102 but also college. Gale was excited from the beginning, and soon this infected me to be excited about the class, writing, and college.…

Although junior year with Ms. Keenan, in room 205, was one of the best educational experience I’ve had. English was and still isn’t my strong suit. On the first day of her class I decided to sit all the way in the back with my best friend and completely ignore everything else that was going on in the class. While introducing herself to the class and telling her story about her life, Oscar and I were having a conversation about fantasy football and who were going to draft in the weeks coming soon. Surprisingly she pulled out stacks of book and hands them out to us.…
