Chip Foose Analysis

The artwork I chose to write about is a sketch of a 1965 Volkswagen Beetle drawn by Chip Foose. Like always he draws a vehicle before he buids it to give himself an idea on which direction he is going to take. the meaning of the art work is stronger than the actual item. In this episode of Overhaulin was a first for them because for one they never customized a VW Beetle before, but mainly because of the owner of the car they built it for ''Chipfoose.com" Blake, the VW’s owner had had always dreamed of working with Chip Foose on his car so they surprised him at his home the day they picked up the VW. Blake has a debilitating lung disease, cystic fibrosis, has slowed him down at his young age of 25. Blake would work on his VW whenever he had the time but with his illness the transformation had been moving at a slower pace. With Blake’s tenacity to never give up and Chip wanted to help him speed up his build process and construct the custom street racer he had been so excited working on to complete …show more content…
It has reflections in the door almost like the cars sitting on a hillside with the sun reflecting off of it. Shades of different colors to make it light and dark to contrast. Even specific details down to the pin stripping and the use of silver and white to make a real life chrome look for the door handles and the headlight bezels and window trims. The small detail down in the windshield like a reflection of something off in front of it. it truely is a special piece of art. It seems like he used a yellow in the middle of the doors to make the orange car have a glare on it. the black and greys and whites in the windows look like if you touch the paper the window would break and fall out. You can tell its not a picture but at the same time the artwork is so fine detailed it looks real. his lines are so straight, his circles are so perfectly round, and the the realism of this art piece makes you almost smell the rubber of the

The mural "Going to The Olympics, 1984" by Frank Romero, was made in 1984 and put in Hollywood Freeway (101) North between Alameda and San Pedro St. to symbolize his historic point of view of going to the Olympics. The picture had five cars in the order of the color of the Olympics rings from left to right, a blimp with the writing "A GOODYEAR" on it, an iron, two silhouettes of people fighting, a horse, a stamp, five hearts on top of each car, and four palm trees. The mural has been mostly painted with the three primary colors, which are red, yellow, and blue. I believe that everything on this picture has a symbolic message of the journey to the Olympics or activities that most likely happen in one.…

Significant personal events in one’s life can act to influence an individual’s artmaking practice. This is evident through Frida Kahlo’s artwork ‘The Broken Column’ 1944, Jenny Sages ‘After Jack’ 2012 and Christian Thompson ‘King Billy’ 2010. Frida Kahlo, is the first example of such an individual as she experienced a horrible accident causing permanent damage to her spine. As a result of the accident, Kahlo became influenced to paint through using her emotion as a driving force to paint where Kahlo states “I am broken, but I am happy as long as I can paint”. This is depicted in Kahlo’s artwork ‘The Broken Column’ in plate 4 which depicts a figure namely Kahlo herself being pricked by nails with the presence of a broken pillar.…

The other piece of artwork named “Drifter” was interesting, by the artist Jim Drain. This artist made a freestanding abstract sculpture from a wide range of fiber material, wood and steel. This piece was interesting with not all about the material, shape and colors, but the statement the artist made. Jim Drain had made use of a wide range of textile materials, taking chaos and creating something, in his words, “ephemeral and magical”.…

This building, looks realistic because of the perfection that he has created using Photoshop, and the bringing of everything together. This photo, again uses significant form, and shape, to create an unrealistic building. Dujardin in this photograph visually creates a strong sense of unity, because even though it is totally unrealistic, the elements come together to create a piece which seems like it fits. The use of a monochromatic color scheme Dujardin allows the viewer to consider the possibly that the buildings may be real. Without this limited color scheme the piece wouldn’t have the sense of…
