Cause and Effect of Drinking and Driving Under the Influence
Up until recently the American Culture had a phrase that was commonly used within the average family, which was “have one more drink for the road.” It has only been within the past 20 years that The United States had really considered the safely risk that Americans now take while driving. For instance, after a good night of drinking with friends it’s easy to perceive that you are fully capable to drive home but, you are more likely to cause harm to other drivers. According to the NSDDAB (National Survey of Drinking and Driving Attitudes and Behavior) states that “those who drink and drive impact only those least likely to drink and drive.” (Goodfellow, Marianne) Drinking reduces the concentration and reactions to sudden hazards in the road, which can lead to fatal accidents or severe injuries to yourself and others.
To Start off, Driving under the influence can harm many people around you and yourself as well. Sadly, in the United States, there has to be a tragedy that has to happen to make sure laws are passed and to make people aware or more considerate when they decide that they will be under the influence to drive. According to KTLA5 News a 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a multi-vehicle collision that killed a 14 year-old boy and injured two other teens in Huntington Beach on June 25, 2015.
