Millions of people are dying world wide due to drinking and driving. A estimated 1.2 million drivers were arrested in 2011 for driving under the influence (DUI) or narcotics. Drinking and driving do not simply go together because, a driver needs to be able to make good and fast decisions on the road. On average, two in three people will be involved in a drunk driving crash in their lifetime. The most common age group for drinking and driving is between 16 and 19. While drinking and driving it may become hard to make them decisions, it may also change you in a way that affects your judgment, and depth perception. Most Americans are aware of these effects but do not care. Many under age kids also make poor decisions such as drinking and driving because the they think “Millions …show more content…
While drinking and driving it is easy to think you are driving normally when you are not. If you are charged with a DUI, your first offence will typically be a loss of your licence for 1 year as well as probation. If you are charged with a DWI, you will be charged with drinking and driving, and also can result in jail time. A 6 year old girl in Shaler Township, Pennsylvania was killed by an alleged drunk driver. Ava Campbell was playing with her mother in her friend's driveway when she was mowed over by 20 year old Travis Grayson. Ava sustained a fractured pelvis, as well as severe damage to her lungs and liver, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
