Traffic crashes were the main cause of alcohol-related deaths and two-thirds of traffic deaths among people aged 16 to 20 that were involved in alcohol. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) was founded in 1980 and more than 25,000 people were killed in drunk driving crashes each year.
