Drinking Age In Canada

As people grow up there are several new possibilities and privileges that become available. One possibility is the legal consummation of alcohol. Currently the legal drinking age in Canada is 19 years old. The legal drinking age should not be 21, there are numerous reasons as to why it should not be increased. The consummation of alcohol is extraordinarily popular at a variety of social gatherings, and locations. When someone is 19 years of age they are legally an adult, and have been for one entire year. They are capable of making their own decisions, they can vote on the leader of their country. They can enroll in the army and put their lives at risk, all by choice. More illegal IDs will be produced, distributed and purchased so people under the age of 21 can purchase alcohol and gain access into bars, and clubs. It will also encourage more driving under the influence as young people illegally drinking will not call a taxi in fear of the driver contacting the authorities about their under aged drinking. In turn they will attempt to drive home while under the influence, resulting in unnecessarily more vehicle accidents. Finally, the mortality rate of alcohol related deaths will drastically increase. As previously mention, more people will attempt to drive under the influence in fear of being caught if they use other methods of transportation. Driving under the influence is extremely hazardous and dangerous. This would result in significantly more vehicle accident with a driver who is under the influence. Driving under the influence results in traumatically large amounts of deaths each year, that number does not need to increase. The amount of deaths caused by over drinking will also increase because the under aged people will excessively drink with all the excitement happening around
