Financial rewards are often a key factor in influencing why individuals undertake a certain jobs. However, money is not everything. Employees need to enjoy their work, be challenged by it and achieve personal fulfillment.

Controlling favoritism starts with recognition that favoritism exist within workplace. Many supervisory level staff favors one employee over another without even recognizing it (Cascarino, 2012). Controls that can help avoid favoritism include:
• Avoiding family relationships in the workplace where possible or, at minimum, ensuring no supervisor-subordinate relationship exists.
• Ensuring that all advancements, compensation, and rewards are based solely on performance using an objective and public methods for evaluating such performance.
