Reading and researching David Rock 's structure for understanding the five primary social dimensions within which our brains react to apparent threats and rewards has been very eye opening. I find it interesting that our brains react to social situations with the manner of fight or flight. However, sitting here, reflecting on real life social situations I do see many situations in life that fall within the framework behind SCARF.
Immediately when reading the material from this week regarding relatedness work comes to mind and the challenges that come with management within my office setting. The threat presented by my coworkers and I being able to relate to each other and have a common comradery is an apparent threat within my office setting.

With this, I feel like I have to continue to work on remaining open-minded and allowing myself to have faith in the process and know that it will all work out in the end. I need to allow things to flow, rather than trying to manipulate others by forcing my agenda, all while trying to control the situation. I need to make a conscious effort to realize that I don’t always have to be in charge and instead of working harder I need to trust more. As they say, “Let go and let GOD” This will not only benefit me, but will allow others into my life, will open me up to new experiences and broaden my horizons as well as change others lives. In the past few weeks I have learned a lot of new information on proper communication that I think I will carry with me for a lifetime. The effect we have on others is great, once words are spoken they can’t be take back, there is no retake. So be mindful of what you say, how you say it and when you say it. Teach your children this and live by it as they see and act as they see. Finally I’d like to leave you with two quotes I find fitting for this week’s
