The video game industry is worth a whopping 70 billion dollars worldwide. The vast community of game designers continues to grow to this day, with many designers working independently. This particular career is best known for having very creative people and many of the employees in the industry are also very practical. Game design does not require any specific college degrees but does require patience, the ability to work with others, knowledge of computers, and knowledge of games, as well as an imaginative and creative mind.
Working as a game designer can be time consuming and stressful at times, especially for the creative director if it's a team of designers. The creative director is responsible for meeting with colleagues, discussing ideas, and deciding if the ideas recorded will be fun to play. "Fun to play" is different for everyone since people have their own unique tastes, for example, a gamer who enjoys puzzle games wouldn't play a game that's in the horror genre.
