he video game industry has always been a topic of controversy over the years. Ever since their first creation there have been a number of opinions surrounding them. The opinions are usually mixed between positive of negative. However, it should be more accurate to state that the opinions of video games range from, strange, absurd, reasonable and downright ridiculous. While video games have gotten popular with mainstream audiences with the rise of esport, video game expos like E3, and the rise of alternative jobs involving video games. For example, many youtubers are able to monetize their videos by just playing video games with commentary to entertain people. Even with their increased popularity, it becomes a double edge sword because this just opens video games up to more controversy. Such as, Gamergate causing unnecessary controversy. They have developed a huge rap sheet understanding public opinion. From the beginning, video games have always included a some manner of violence and destructive aspects within the mechanics of the game. With the evolution technology on the rise, people are becoming more anxious of how realistic the violence representation will be towards the children. With the issue of violence constantly being raised due to the advancements of modern technology increasing the immersion of video games with more advanced gameplay mechanic and more enhanced graphics. Because of this, plenty of individuals begin to believe that the children will be susceptible by the violence in the games. There have been multiple attempts in researching the connection to people that commit violence with those that play violent video games. The results have been split between going in either favor.
