Breann Powell's Role In Occupational Therapy

Great Essays
Breann Powell is an eighteen year old female and she is currently an Occupational Therapy student at Worcester State University. For this profile she filled out a “time study” that she recorded her activities for four days, an interest check list that she labeled different activities as a casual interest, a strong interest, or no interest, and she took a life balance inventory which gives life balance scores based on what she is interested in and how often she gets to do those things.
Roles and Occupations:
Breann has a lot of different roles in her life. She is a student, roommate, sister, friend, coworker, resident, and daughter. Her role of student is in the context of being a freshman Occupational Therapy student at Worcester State

I noticed that school is what she spends the most time on and this makes sense since college students need to do a lot of work in order to pass their classes. She spends a good amount of time with friends which is important to her. Her routine of getting up every morning around eight is helpful to her because she knows how much time she has to get ready for her day. She also spends a reasonable amount of time relaxing and doing things she enjoys which is good because college can become stressful if there is no …show more content…
I think a good activity for Breann to fit into her schedule is dancing because she said she enjoys staying active and the Dance Company on campus would get her involved in the school and she would be doing something she has a lot of interest in. Breann could also benefit from painting whether she takes a class or just paints for fun, she is interested in art and does not do anything daily that relates to this interest. Breann enjoy conversation, traveling, and religion, based on these interests I think she would enjoy and benefit from the program I participate in which is volunteering to help an immigrant learn English through the program at our school run by the Department of Urban Studies. She will learn a lot about the person’s home country and culture. A big part of this program is just communicating with the learner and I believe Breann would enjoy it as much as I do. This program is only one hour a week and would fit into her schedule. Since Breann enjoys decorating, parties, and holidays, she could participate in the Student Events Committee at Worcester State. They are the committee that organizes performances or parties on campus for the students, they help set up for each event. This would be good for Breann because she will have a chance to bring fun activities to our school and she said she enjoys concerts so she will have a say in who they get

Andrew Delbanco in his article “3 Reasons College Still Matters,” he points out the importance of getting a college degree by saying that citizens must think of the benefits that they are going to get after they graduate from college.
