Billboard advertisements are seen regularly in everyday life. They come in many different shapes and sizes, and occupy those huge boards either side of the freeway. This McDonalds billboard advertisement uses many different persuasive techniques in order to sell their intended product. In this case, the product being advertised is the Mc happy meal. The billboard uses specific colours, and directs the product towards a large demographic. The billboard appeals to the emotion of hunger as well as happiness, which is a recurring theme throughout the advertisement. The intended purpose like most billboards is to sell their product. McDonalds uses many different techniques and appeals to many different audiences to sell!
Firstly, McDonalds has used many techniques over the years to appeal to everyone. The slogan is a great example of this. Because of its simplicity, it is very effective and appeals to the emotion of happiness. This presents, how they want you to be aware of how cheap the product really is and appeal to the people who don’t want to pay a lot of money to get what they want. In addition, you know McDonald’s is already a quick and easy option, when they add cheap to that impressive list it they will attract even more customers. Additionally, showing the price in bold writing also exposes how they want you to buy more because of the amazingly cheap price. In addition, the colours red and yellow are specifically used because they are scientifically proven to trigger the emotion of hunger.
