Think of Both Sides Many companies use advertisement to persuade or to inform. They try to convince others to buy their products, such as food, beverages, clothing, shoes, hair products, etc. Others try to inform others and change their perspectives about more serious topics, such as smoking, pollution, and global warming. They use plenty of rhetorical devices to capture the eyes of consumers and convince them to see their view of what is being sold or displayed. In this print advertisement, by advertising agency Red Pepper in Ekaterinburg, Russia, they are doing both, persuading and informing, by using different techniques, such as body composition, pathos, logos, focal point,

Plenty of drivers, especially teenagers and young adults, are constantly paying attention to other surroundings or things, other than the road, while they are driving. I personally am a teenager, so I can vouch for this. Everything is like a disturbance. Friends talking, the music sounding so good that we must do a little dance and sing along, cellphone ringing or receiving a message, social media calling our name, etc. We don’t go over in our mind about the dangers we can cause to the people in our vehicle or those outside of the vehicle. The only thing we focus on is getting to our destination and having a great time in the car while driving there. However, this advertisement makes us think deeply about the safety of driving. We would not want to cause harm to our family, friends, or strangers due to our negligence, and this advertisement shows exactly what can happen if we do not practice safe driving. Not only the driver’s life can be ruined, but other people’s lives can be ruined as …show more content…
While it can be easy to get distracted in a vehicle, there are more serious consequences that come from you not paying attention. Think about your family and others; wouldn’t you be hurt if someone hit a person close to you due to their negligence? Although this advertisement succeeds at convincing people to try their best to stay focused on the road by displaying a shocking scene and placing them deep in thought about the seriousness of safety driving, do you think other companies who focus on serious matters around the world would have the same success if they used the same

The first appeal the Shamwow commercial does not use effectively is the ethos appeal. Ethos is the appeal to credibility, an example of this would be having a recognizable person (such as someone seen on tv or another form of public exposure) present a product, and because the intended audience recognizes the figure, the audience trusts the sales pitch since they have seen them outside of the advertisement. In the Shamwow commercial, a tan, spiky-haired, salesman with a blue collared shirt stitched with the products title, introduces himself as Vince Offers of Shamwow. Offers’ own association with the company, along with the label of on his shirt, is there to convince the audience or viewers?, that because he belongs with the company (poor…

Keds Art to Advertisement According to Ziad Abu-Saud’s article, “The Dogma of Advertising and Consumerism,” featured in the Huffington Post, we are exposed to between two hundred and fifty and three thousand advertisements a day. When it comes to advertising, companies want to be original, but also do not want their originality to be copied. On behalf of Coca-Cola, Ira C.Herbert, in his letter to Mr. R. W. Seaver, addresses the issue Coca-Cola has with Grove Press advertising the phrase "It's The Real Thing". Herbert’s purpose is to ask Grove Press to not advertise their book with their slogan because he believes the slogan belongs to Coca-Cola. Seaver, an executive vice president, explains that their use of the slogan was discussed and came to the conclusion that it will help Coca-Cola in the long run. Whereas Herbert’s letter is formal and argues the point that Coca-Cola is the rightful owner of the slogan, Richard Seaver’s response is more persuasive due to his good humor and reasonable justification for the publishing company to use the slogan.…

I believe Lewis gave a very effective analysis of the advertisement describing it in such detail made us able to picture the ad so clearly. Lewis does an excellent job in describing the image of the ad yet argues that everything about it serves as influence for the genders. With everything from gender, to skin color, to vocabulary, even the placement of the background photos are intentionally arranged to form a “V” in an attempt to give an image of moving in opposite directions. This advertisement is a blatant example of gender stereotyping in the media. The male is shown as dominant and assertive; the woman is shown as weak, soft, and above all else: sexy.…

Commercials are always on television and are one of the most annoying things to see while watching a good show. Not only are commercials annoying, but most of the time the products in them are falsely advertised to some extent. Despite this, many viewers fold and purchase the products anyways. The reason being that the makers of the commercials use persuasive rhetoric to convince the viewers to buy what the particular company is selling. Commercials also can promote products by comparing them to products of the same kind.…

This add, for Cannery Row, shows a picture of three children playing on a white sand beach, all alone, with a woman’s image transparently imposed over the top. On top of the add is the text “Cannery Row/ Stay Here. Play Here.” On the bottom is a dark blue box with the text reading: “When was the last time you had time to just watch your kids play? Come to think of it, when was the last time you joined them.”…

Advertisement is the main way to get your product out so that people know what you are selling. Anything can be an advertisement, for example, a flyer, poster, billboard, commercial, or radio. Most advertisements use the three rhetorical appeals, pathos, ethos, and logos. The advertisement for the product "Surge" uses all three rhetorical appeals. "Surge" is an energy drink that claims to boost your energy and help you stay awake not only to study, but also keep you awake during your test.…

For my rhetorical and visual analysis paper, I chose to write about the visual storytelling of an art school’s ad and how it was weak in its presentation. When I decided to write my thoughts on this topic, I wanted to illustrate my professional opinion on advertising and how important it is to touch on all aspects of rhetoric when working on a visual. I also wanted to include this essay rather than my rhetorical narrative paper because I was much more passionate on the topic of analyzing this advertisement. I had much more to talk about within the analysis and found that I also cared about identifying the flaws within the ad more than I did telling a personal story. All the feedback I was given in class was incredibly helpful, as I was able to pick up on what aspects of rhetoric I was lacking in my final draft.…

Deadly Advertisement: What You and Your Children Should Know As a child, I always remembered the joy I felt when my parents announced that we would be attending Mc Donals to eat; the play-zone, burgers, fries and of course the toy included in every meal, was always the highlight of my eating experience. 15 years later and now a parent to my own children, I’m disgusted with the tactics fast food companies are applying in order to lure kids into their grease filled and nutrient free restaurants. What companies like Wendy’s, McDonalds and Burgerking are doing is eventually going to affect out whole nation. Children are unaware and often not in control of what they put into their bodies, nor the long lasting effects. Children want what…

Public services announcements help reduce the number of distracted incidents because they do a good job at being a preventative measure. In the article regarding the preliminary nature of public service announcements, Eric Sorensen quotes researchers Kareklas and Muehling, “the findings, suggest that the use of promotional campaigns featuring relatively strong emotional references to death/dying may be an effective persuasive technique.” This quote illustrates the usefulness of public service announcements because the announcements discourage individuals from driving while being distracted. In conclusion, when individuals see the adverse effects actions can have, such as driving while being distracted helps individuals realize their actions…

This is what the Road Safety Association of Indonesia presents with their image named “Car”. This image is on an ad website that states it was by illustrator Faddy Ravydera and published on October 2014. Within the image, the message given is “Stop Killing While Driving” which replaces the usual phrase “Stop Texting While Driving.” The depiction persuades the viewer to divert from any sort of texting and driving.…

To begin with, advertisement is becoming a necessary and integral part of our everyday life. Advertisement is everywhere now: it can be found in the form of print advertisements in magazines and newspapers, billboards, telephone directories, mailers, and, fliers or in electronic media such as the Internet, television, and radio. It is a developing business that makes people come together and makes them think of some specific things or products. Such kind of business appeared in the 19th century, it is not that old so it is very interesting to search. I have seen a lot of completely different kinds of ads and they all have various purposes.…
