College Admissions Essay: Why I Pursuit Of My Dream

It was 1988, when I was attending my first semester at College of Aeronautics in Queens New York. I was in this country for about a year and half, I didn’t know much about colleges in my area, and everything was very confusing to me. My father (who was a very controlling man) took care of choosing a college and registering me without any of my input or concerns.
His dream was to become an Aeronautical Engineer, it was a dream that he could never accomplish and wanted to fulfill his dream through me. Unfortunately it was not my dream, it was not what I had plan when coming to this country from Chile and leaving my mother behind, I came full of dreams, I wanted to study something that I love and that I will be passionate about, he didn’t give me that choice. Of course!, I didn’t succeed. I did meet my husband and got married, few months later I got a wonderful job as Treasury Administrator at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City that’s where I spend the next 10 years of my life, I absolutely love that job, I met so many people from all over the world, from so many different countries, countries that I have never even heard of. I was doing great getting paid very well for someone with only a high school, which I didn’t see the need of going back to school

But this was a turning point in my life and I decided to finish something that it was looong overdue, return to college and finish my education, I have all the support for my husband and family, and my kids are my biggest supporter, it’s going to be a challenge but it will be very rewarding at the
