In Packer’s essay, “The Broken Contract”, Packer employs many different techniques in his effort to support his claim that the United States is not as good as it used to be. Among his methods of support was his use of personification, metaphors, fact stating, and the defining of different scenarios. In his writing Packer uses personification as a way to explain his current view on the American situation. Packer begins by referring to the Iraq war as being a stress test of the American body politic.…
Alex Epstein and Yaron Brook, the co-authors of the essay “The Evil of Animal “Rights”’ elucidate that, animal rights activists are terrorists who use violence to get their requests accepted by different entities. Epstein and Brook, who are for animal testing belief that, using animals for testing is very vital when conducting research for possible cures of terminal diseases like cancer and AIDS. However, they do not seem to get their way…
Animals can feel pain, have the ability to learn new things, and can have different emotions. This is why animal testing is not okay. Animal experimentation is unnecessary, inhumane, and not accurate. Many different types of animals are used in a variety of experiments and tests.…
Animals all around the world are used for testing and research. People always wonder why people use animals. They ask why would scientist put these innocent creatures through something horrible. It has been proven that scientist use about 100 million animals for testing and research each year. From personal research, I have seen many inhumane things happen to these creatures that should not happen.…
Testing on animals is also a lot more expensive and non-practical than alternative methods. (Animals In). “Some people, including some scientists object to the practice strictly on ethical and moral grounds, refuting or rejecting any scientific evidence that animal testing is helpful to humans.” (Judson 12). However, groups opposing the cruel treatment of animals were influential in getting regulations passed to protect welfare of animals.…
There are the animal activists and then the pro-science groups. The animal activists see animal testing as harming the animals without any physical intent. We can see that animals and humans are different, so we would exhibit different symptoms. The pro-science groups states that since we cannot experiment on humans, it would be better to treat the animals like mice because we can get an idea of what the developed drug will do in our system. Speaking of which, there is a law that states that drugs produced in the market must be tested on animals first.…
With so many other options available animals should not be used or hurt in experiments. Looking at the results of animal testing clearly shows that animals are poor test subjects because of the lack of comparison between them and…
Animal testing has become one of a number of controversial issues because of the effects that it has on animals. Supporters of animal testing justify these effects because they believe that animal testing is the only way to find new cures for diseases. Research that has been done on this matter has proven it to be an ineffective way of finding cures. Furthermore, the reason why animal testing should not continue is because it leads to animals having psychological problems, dwindling of the number of endangered animals and cures that have been proven on animals do not work on people.…
The testing on animals is a very touchy subject. It makes people wonder whether or not its cruel to advance technology by killing innocent animals. Killing animals for testing has its benefits but it's still inhumane to do that to animals. It can destroy populations of animals if tested often and if every lab has its own supply of animals the populations will drop by extreme numbers. The animals that are tested on often get terrible treatment as the people testing on them know they will soon die.…
Thesis Statement Animals deserve rights, and these rights should annihilate the problems with animal abuse, abandonment, and animal experimentation. Purpose Statement The purpose of this research paper is to discuss animal rights and what animals right activist ideology fight for which includes animal abuse, abandonment, experimentation, and laws that prevent inhuman actions towards animals.…
Current Event Article #2: The Ethics of Animal Testing Volkswagen is currently under a fire because it has come to light that they help fund tests where humans and monkeys inhaled diesel fumes for hours. The nature of the tests is still not known, as the findings have not been made public, however two independent scientists that have conducted air pollution tests on human volunteers told BBC that similar tests on humans are common (Gunter, 2018). The controversial and unethical testing was found to be funded by a lobbyist group, not independent or by government. In these tests, “participants spend up to two hours in a sealed environment chamber breathing diluted diesel fumes equivalent to the levels of air pollution in Beijing or Delhi”…
Monkeys and mice have been helping to fight ebola, restore vision, and cure brain tumors. Many past advancements in experiments have helped scientists gain information and continue old research to make improvements (Trull). People think since the animals have helped society gain knowledge before scientists should continue to use them in research today (About). Some products are required by law to be tested on animals first. This lets scientists know substances are safe on other human like subjects and there has been multiple tests on the substance (@peta).…
After studying multiple views on animal testing I have come to realize my personal view has now changed since the start of my research. Before undergoing heavy study into animal testing I believed that all types of animal testing should be stopped, but now I believe that the idea is very beneficial and should only be done when the rights of the animal are considered. In the coming years, hopefully, more regulations can be passed to ensure that all animal’s lives are protected during experimentation. Although most animals are treated with care and no pain is dealt to them when undergoing testing, it would be a lie if I stated no animals are harmed during the process. Animal testing is extremely useful in developing life-saving drugs and medicine.…
Though I concede that in some situations, animal testing may be useful, such as in immensely important medical studies, I still maintain that it is unnecessary to make an animal suffer and be discriminated against. Although some people may think that animal testing is healthy and beneficial to humans, I believe that animal testing is unethical and utterly wrong because of the unfair repulsive treatment that animals receive from scientists. This topic is important because the world we live in is as much an animal 's world as it is a human’s world and right now humans are discriminating and enslaving…
Should Animals Be Used for Scientific or Commercial Testing? Introduction: An estimated twenty six million animals are used every year in the United States for scientific and commercial testing. Animals should not be used for scientific or commercial testing because animal testing is cruel and inhumane, animals make poor test subjects, and animals’ rights are violated. I. Animals should be used for scientific or commercial testing.…
