Abortion or Adoption: Weighing the Options
The choice between adoption and abortion changes millions of lives every day. Some advocates of abortion feel if the mother of the child thinks that she will not be a good parent or thinks she will harm the child, that she has the right to abort the child. Abortion is a life changing decision and has the reputation of being an easy way out of an unwanted pregnancy. Adoption, on the other hand, is one way for a woman who is not prepared to be a parent to provide her child the best life possible without being involved in the child’s life. Adopting parents also endure many emotions during the adoption process. They are being given an opportunity to love a child who was given to them by what is usually a stranger. However, they must consider the fact that the biological mother might change her mind during labor or shortly after and not follow through with the adoption. It is common for adoptive children to want to locate their biological parents as they become older. This is also an emotional situation that the adoptive parents may have to encounter. However, in the end, a family was brought together by a mother's decision for the good of her unborn child.
Conversely, the decision for abortion is putting a sudden stop to the child's opportunity to live. The emotions encountered by a woman going forth with an abortion can range from relief to regret. In the event that the father or other family member s are aware of the pregnancy, the mother can be faced with negative repercussions from those who do not agree with the decision. Oftentimes, picketers or pro-life advocates are on the premises of abortion clinics and the woman had to endure their negative comments and opinions. The unborn child who was aborted would never have the opportunity to go through any of these emotions based on the decision from the mother.
