Women all over the world are faced with the increasing issue of abortion. This scenario has been fueled by social and economic factors. Abortion is the termination of pregnancy. In many developed countries abortion is legal, whereas most developing countries abortion is not permitted. This brings up the complicities of safe and unsafe abortions. Abortion is the liable cause for over 70,000 maternal deaths worldwide. Most women face emotional distress, health complications, and financial difficulties post-abortion because of this, there are women all over the world who are struggling.
Countless women throughout the world face countless amounts of stress but mostly emotional distress post-abortion. It may not be as bad as it used to be, but it’s still a problem to women in this society. There are women who still battle depression, anxiety, substance abuse, etc. 65 percent of women who develop clinical depression are most likely from the cause of an abortion. Women with clinical depression, anxiety, etc., are more likely to have their families affected by their emotional distress as well. Some women don’t even have emotions; it’s more of a, numbness than anything else, they’re just relived they survived the ordeal. In a study of teenage abortion patients, half suffered a worsening of psychosocial functioning within 7 months after the abortion.
