Dr. Paul Ranalli, neurologist, University of Toronto states that “at 20 weeks, the fetal brain has the full complement of brain cells present in adulthood, ready and waiting to receive pain signals from the body, and their electrical activity can be recorded by standard electroencephalography (EEG)” meaning pain can be experienced quite early by unborn babies, making fetal pain a harsh fact. Surgeons entering the womb to perform corrective procedures on tiny unborn babies have seen those babies flinch, jerk and recoil from sharp objects and incisions. In 2004, Dr. Kanwalijeet Anand testified the following before Congress: “Mechanisms that inhibit or moderate the experience of pain do not begin to develop until 32 to 34 weeks post-fertilization,”

The truth is that, according to the National Abortion Federation's (NAF) teaching text on abortion, of the over 1 million abortions that took place last year, only about 1 percent of them were performed for reason of rape or incest. Also, less than 7 percent to protect the mother's health - circumstances in which the termination of pregnancy is necessary to save the life of the mother are very rare, particularly where modern medical care is available. Abortion advocates fail to mention the other 92 percent. We do recognize, however, that just because these numbers are low doesn’t make this argument dismissable. This being said, being a rape victim still does not justify the act of abortion. It does not matter in what way a child is conceived, but once the baby is conceived, killing that life will always be unjustifiable and immoral. That doesn’t mean that mother is responsible for raising that child and keeping the baby, but it does mean she is responsible for sticking through with the pregnancy and giving birth to that baby. “Rape babies” have just as much of a right to live as any other human being.
