Abortion: Pro-Choice

Shouldn’t you be able to decide what you do with your body? How would you feel if someone told you what your could or could not do to your own body? This is the dilemma women face every day since abortion is constantly a topic of much debate. There are many opinions on whether or not women should be able to have an abortion or not. I think women should definitely be able to have an abortion if they want to. Women’s health can be affected if she is not able to have one, the fetus can’t feel pain, and overall it should be the woman’s choice. To begin with, fetuses aren’t able to feel pain during the time abortions are performed. Pain doesn’t occur for fetuses until the 29th or 30th week of being in the mother’s womb. Abortions occurring that far into the pregnancy are rare and sometimes illegal (“Should Abortion Be Legal?”). Dr. Anne Davis, an OB-GYN and abortion provider, says, “... Neurons that carry pain signals aren’t developed until the third trimester of pregnancy.” (Miller). Nothing has happened to the fetus to support pain experiences. Flinching and other reactions when detecting pain as a fetus are just reflexes (“Should Abortion Be Legal?”). If pain depends on situations obtained from outside the brain, then fetal pain can’t be possible (Derbyshire). As you can see, it is proven that fetuses do not get hurt or feel pain

That means that women should be able to have abortions if they decide that would be the best option for them. In fact, fetuses don’t feel pain when abortions are performed therefore that shouldn’t be a reason women shouldn’t have them. Also, the mother’s health is very important and she needs to take care of herself. If an abortion needs to take place so she can remain healthy she should be able to have one. So if we want to give women the freedom over their body that they deserve abortions need to be legal and easy for women to

Half of pregnancies among American women are unintended, and about four in ten of these end in abortion (Abortion in the United States). Women have used abortion to control the reproduction at every point in history, regardless of its legality (History of Abortion in the U.S.). In 1973, the Supreme Court legalized abortion as a pro-choice stance. Many court cases tried to over turn Roe v. Wade, the court case that said abortion should be legal, but never had it overturned; however, in 1992, the court case, Planned Parenthood v. Casey had made restrictions on abortion. This includes a 24 hour waiting period, one parent’s permission if a minor, and a husband must be notified of intent to have the procedure done but was overturned in the above…

In our day and age, you will undoubtedly hear the pro-abortionists say these exact statements “it’s between the woman and her doctor” or “a woman has the right to choose.” The world today is in great peril; can people recognize right from wrong? Pro-abortionists say it is wrong to make abortion illegal in the United States because, you deny women’s right to health care. Not only will the fetus feel pain after a first trimester abortion, but at 25 weeks the fetus is considered viable (Candisky, 2015). When a fetus is considered feasible it is said to say that when the child is born there is a high percentage of the infant being able to survive (Candisky, 2015). This shows that late-term abortion is considered wrong, under them having the right to life, because you shouldn’t be able to abort an unborn child with such a high percentage of them…

Pro Choice vs. Pro Life There are many reasons on both sides of this issue of why people believe it is or is not okay to have an abortion. Many believe that it is a woman’s right to choose to end her pregnancy or not. The U.S. Supreme Court has declared that it is a right guaranteed by the Constitution. Many would also believe that in choosing to end her pregnancy, she is committing murder, and that although the child is unborn, it is still a living being with the same right to live as its mother. Pro Choice gives women the right to decide if having a child is right for her, and that choice does not end the moment she becomes pregnant.…

Motherhood should never be a punishment. Abortion is a fundamental right and should stay legal in all places for all people. A common misconception about abortion is that the child is able to feel being aborted and that it hurts the fetus. But what people do not know is that the child is actually not able to feel pain until around the twentieth week of gestation. Studies show that less than two percent of abortions occur after twenty weeks.…

The evidence stunning proves that the misgiving and dying rates of legal abortion are several times higher than that for carrying a pregnancy to term. Even more frighten is the fact that beginning at the 8th week of your pregnancy, an unborn baby that is aborted feels pain during the abortion. The baby feels both mental and real, living pain. Abortion does not prevent suffering, according to the ProCon.org website, it states that fetuses feel pain during the abortion. Kanwaljeet J.S. Anand says,”If the fetus is beyond 20 weeks of gestation, I believe there would be pain acting on the fetus, it would be severe and excruciating pain.” (http://abortion.procon.org/). Within 20 weeks or more, the fetus is more than capable of feeling the pain. A type of commonly performed abortion is called the D and C method, this is a surgical procedure that removes the contents of the uterus by opening the cervix.…

In fact a because a baby is just developing it’s brain when the abortion is happening the pain can cause even more pain that it would if it was happening to a full grown person. This is because the brain does not understand what exactly the sensation is, it know that it is painful but it does not know what part of the brain it appeals to so it ends in an overload of parts of the brain causing mass chaos and confusion. A study done on babies shows us that a light poke to a baby registers in the brain just as much as hard poke. Despite the pain felt by a 20 week old unborn baby some states still have no bans on 3rd trimester babies, where the baby can survive out of the womb. Abortion although a conservative topic I think that it is clear that if it must be done it must be done in the most humane way possible, and our current methods do not suffice especially past 20 weeks when they feel the full force of the abortion.…

“When a man steals to satisfy hunger, we can safely assume that there is something wrong in society so when a woman destroys the life of her unborn child, it is evidence that either by education or circumstances she has been greatly wronged.” Said by Mattie Brinkerhoff. Abortion is increasing tremendously. There are 40-50 million abortions that occur per year, that means there are 125,000 unborn babies that die every day. In fact, Frank Pavone states that “If we took a moment of silence for each person lost to abortion we would be silent for over 100 years.”…

It is up to that woman whether or not she is in an appropriate place to receive an abortion. That choice is a “fundamental right” of all women. It is not the place of the government to make this choice, or yet prevent this choice, for women. They should not take away that right because a woman decided to, or sometimes was forced to, participate in such activities that would bring a woman to make this decision. This choice has been proven to be a right by the case of ‘Roe vs. Wade’.…
