When mothers think about abortion, they only think about what would happen to the baby after the procedure. What many mothers do not think about is what could happen to them during and after these procedures take place. These procedures have had multiple mothers suffering from short and long term consequences. Mothers need to be informed on what is going to happen to their body and about the possible side effects they could endure afterwards.
Abortion is a controversial topic because medical decisions are based off of what people think are morally correct. This is when the controversy started between pro- life and pro- choice. People who are pro- life are the people who are against abortions and believe that the baby is a life when conception occurs. Pro- choice people

One of the most common and harmful ways to abort an unborn child happens in early pregnancies. Early surgical abortion procedures, such as aspiration, is used during the beginning stage of a mother's pregnancy. Most beginning procedures have the abortionist vacuum the fetus out of the uterus. Some short term effects of this are usually pain in the abdominal region and nausea. Not so common short term effects are continuous bleeding and damage to the uterus. Most surgical procedures have these same short term side effects because of the different instruments used to extract the fetus out of the mother. Long term effects are what most abortion seeking mothers are worrying about. One major long term effect of abortion is cancer. Mothers can get cervical cancer from having an abortion. This can happen if the procedure was unsanitary or the mother did not take care of her wounds from the procedure. Thirty percent of women get some sort of cancer after an abortion procedure.
