Introduction: Culture- Abortion in America
Abortion is the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end a pregnancy. It has become a very common solution to women and teens that feel that having a baby will be a burden to them and their life. Some women feel that they simply cannot raise a baby and that they are not physically, mentally or emotionally stable enough to do what it takes to raise a baby the right way, which is why they turn to abortion. Because of this alternative offered to all women and teens, abortion has become a very controversial topic around the world. Abortion rate is rapidly growing and is definitely a concern. It’s great” as being all for the idea of abortion. She argues that abortion is not an evil act, it is a woman’s way of taking advantage of her rights. Throughout her argument, she refers to Katha Pollitt’s, Pro: Reclaiming Abortion Rights. She uses her references from Katha Pollitt to strengthen her argument that abortion is not only necessary, but is good for society. Doyle insists that every woman should be able to control what goes on inside their body because giving birth is the start of “drastic lifestyle change and heavy financial responsibility”. She stresses that this burden could last anywhere from nine months to the rest of their life. She states that “in order to effectively plan a life and career, [a woman] must have some guarantee that [she] will never be forced to take on the risk or cost of childbirth unless [she] chooses to do so. This question has been asked so many times yet no one can seem to agree on a answer. People against abortion believe it is killing a child who never gets to live his or her life and there 's nothing that child can do about it. These type of people believe it is unfair to that fetus who will never get the opportunity to live it’s life. On the other hand we have the argument that mainly young people who get pregnant should not have to deal with the “Burden” of a child. But the people against abortion strongly respond to that statement, If you can’t take care of a child don’t put yourself in that predicament.
Birth Control is now available and thanks to modern medicine it tends to be very effective. This pill can be taken by one who is wishing to have intercourse without having a child.
