Pro Life Argument Analysis

The major argument with abortion is taking the life of an unborn human. Fetuses are not independent of themselves, more so they are very dependent on their carrier for nutrition, oxygen and other supplements. Therefore, the child will not be able to survive outside the womb by itself. Abortion is ending the pregnancy, not ending the life of the baby. Pro-life activists argue fetuses are able to feel pain. The cortex is outer most layer of the cerebrum; the cortex of an unborn fetus does not develop until 26 weeks of pregnancy. Pro-choice activist refer to the 2010 Britain’s Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist which states fetuses do not feel pain during abortions when the abortion is performed within the 26 to 30 weeks after conception. …show more content…
Pro-life activist argue the Bible does not clearly distinguish between fetus and babies. It is seen by pro-life activist that when a baby is conceived, he or she is recognized by God as being life. Bible verses that are often referred to during arguments are Jeremiah 1:5 which says “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee…” clearly giving evidence that every child before out of the womb is recognize by God. Exodus 20:13 is also referred to which states “Thou shalt not kill”; activist argue this means all human, including unborn babies. Other religions see abortion as an equivalent to killing parents and destroying life. It is also argued the fetus feels pain during the abortion. Pro-life activist refer to a Neurobiology and Anatomy Adjunct Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Utah: School of Medicine who explains spinal reflex is developed by eight weeks. This gives a valid argument for the Pro-life activists which explains the fetus can detect pain by the end of the first …show more content…
In the 1970’s, women used to perform abortions on themselves with the” use of coat hangers, knitting needles or radiator flush.” (Abortion ProCon, n.d.) During this history, there were a recorded 39 deaths. Roe vs. Wade legalized abortion which dropped recorded deaths of mothers to two adults. Modern procedures for abortion lead to less health issues. Women have abortions because carrying the baby could result in death of the mother and the baby. Carrying a child to give birth has a higher risk of death rather than having an abortion. The risk of dying from an abortion is a 0.6 chance in 100,000: whereas the risk of dying from carrying a child to birth is a 9 in 100,000 chance. Many argue cancer and infertility are a result of having an abortion. The National Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist states the abortion cannot lead to the higher chance of breast cancer. Women who have at least two abortions have the same chance of fertility of those who had birth. With today’s government monetary standing, people are finding ways to reduce the giving of money to people who do not give back to society. Abortion reduces the use of welfare by mothers who are unable to work because they are unable to put their child in a daycare. The Congressional Budget office researched the effects of anti-abortion bills and found the deficit, which is $13.2

Not only will the fetus feel pain after a first trimester abortion, but at 25 weeks the fetus is considered viable (Candisky, 2015). When a fetus is considered feasible it is said to say that when the child is born there is a high percentage of the infant being able to survive (Candisky, 2015). This shows that late-term abortion is considered wrong, under them having the right to life, because you shouldn’t be able to abort an unborn child with such a high percentage of them…

“Surgeons entering the womb to perform corrective procedures on tiny unborn babies have seen those babies flinch, jerk and recoil from sharp objects and incisions” (Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life). An abortion procedure involves an abortionist reaching into the mother’s womb with a clamp and pulling out parts of the child with force. This procedure violently tears a preborn child apart, limb from torso, until the child bleeds to death in utero. After the arms and legs are torn off, the abortionist then continues to the brain where he/she takes the clamp and crushes down on the head until they see pure white gelatinous material issue from the cervix. Pro Choice vs. Pro Life There are many reasons on both sides of this issue of why people believe it is or is not okay to have an abortion. Many believe that it is a woman’s right to choose to end her pregnancy or not. The U.S. Supreme Court has declared that it is a right guaranteed by the Constitution. Many would also believe that in choosing to end her pregnancy, she is committing murder, and that although the child is unborn, it is still a living being with the same right to live as its mother. Pro Choice gives women the right to decide if having a child is right for her, and that choice does not end the moment she becomes pregnant.…

Dear Editor. I took great issue to your editorial (”Why I Am A Pro-Life Feminist: Women’s Rights and Abortion ”Rights” Don’t Mix”, Emily Derois, Aug 29), as the author of this article makes some bold claims. Being a feminist, I could not help but react to the title. To me, feminism means that every woman has the right to her own body and can do whatever she chooses with it, and neglecting a woman’s right to have an abortion is a serious breach in the feminist ideology. The author has their arguments and they seem to have strong faith in them, but I’m not convinced.…

Abortion has been a great topic of debate for many years, both in terms of law/rights and in morality/religion. The constant debate has split people into two sides: Pro-Choice and Pro-Life. Those who are Pro-Choice believe that women have a right to decide the fate of their body, health, and life. They personally may not get an abortion, but they feel that it is still the right of the mother to choose. Abortion prevents unsafe pregnancies, protects women 's right to choose, liberates women from patriarchal control over women 's sexual and reproductive lives, and allows the mother to choose whether, when, and how often to have a child.…

Pro-life advocates tend to think that if abortion were illegal, there would be not more abortions. They, however, are false. If abortion were to be illegal, there would still be many abortions performed; they would be unsafe procedures performed by non-physicians who may botch the procedure, by the pregnant mothers themselves or by “back-alley butchers” (“Misconceptions About Abortion”). Modern abortion procedures are safe and sanitary. Access to legalized, professionally performed abortions reduces the risk of injury or death.…
