Personal Narrative: My Latin Teacher

Improved Essays
High school is never easy. There are a lot of changes and growing that people endure. I had a lot of hard times throughout high school. I had my fair shares of ups and downs just like everyone else. I was the type of student who stressed out of every single test, quiz, and project. I had a hard time relaxing when it came to school, I had my work done early, and was prepared for every quiz. I was not the type of student to not care or blow something off on purpose. Once in a lifetime a student will get a teacher that changes everything for them. For me, that was Ms.Villani. She was my Latin teacher from seventh grade to senior year, she watched me grow up and mature. Any time I was having a hard time, whether it was school related or not, I always knew that I could talk to her about it. Ms.Villani is the kindest, sweetest, teacher I have ever …show more content…
The thing that kept me going back to Latin every year was not the subject, it was knowing that I would have her as a teacher. She has such a passion for the Latin language it is inspiring. Anyone can tell her passion for the Latin language, it can be seen with the way she speaks about it. When we starts talking about something that has to do with the language or mythology, she can not stop herself. She also has a passion for teaching. Her passion for teaching can be seen in the amount of time she spends preparing for class. She finds movies to relate to what she is teaching to capture attention, she also has many word games that she came up with for us to play to keep us entertained and intrigued. She has passed on her inspiration for her job and the subject she teaches to me. Now I want to teach and share my passion, of teaching young children, with people. Her care for her students and job is just amazing. Not that many teachers have that level of caring now, they come in assign work and leave, she always wanted to know how we were doing and keep us interested in

My classroom procedures are very clear, which the class has become familiar with over the semester. Students are to come in from their special class and grab their materials and go sit on the carpet and get ready for math to begin. These are expectations that should be memorized by now. Many of them do this and it contributes to the flow of the classroom and the engagement level of the entire groups. Students are expected to pay attention to the speaker during the mini-lesson by facing their way and not playing with any other items.…

I relate to her students because I was her student at one point. The high school I attended was unaccredited, and really was just taking us space in the neighborhood. My high school was at risk, a failure, and the dropout rate is high. We didn 't have any after school programs really, the only thing we had was the National Honor Society, which you had to have a 3.5 grade point average. Not many people were in the National Honor Society.…

When I was in elementary and middle school I didn't really have a subject preference. I was just okay at every subject and I couldn't find myself interested in anything particular. I didn't feel lost because I had plenty of time to decide what I wanted for myself that would make me happy. After a certain point in my life though, I have always had a preference for English, a preference that I didn't act on until recently.…

I was very excited but also nervous about meeting my school mentor. I felt better once my SU mentor gave me background information on Mrs. Trotz, my school mentor. Mrs. Trotz recently got married and graduated from Stevenson University. I thought it was cool that she graduated from the school that I am currently attending. I couldn’t wait for Tuesday morning to finally meet Mrs. Trotz face to face at Carroltown Elementary School.…

Everyone has their own kind of sacrifices for better or worse. Sometimes we offer these sacrifices as a means to provide protection or some ray of hope. Tutors are known to be educated in whatever subject they tutor in as well as being extremely patient. Though some do it for free or may charge a fee, it always comes down to how much effort they put into each session and ultimately the result. I remember a particular event during sophomore year of high school, I offered to tutor a young freshman girl named Misha.…

“H-Hi… M-my n-name is…” I would constantly stutter like this when introducing myself on the first day of school every year in high school until 12th grade. This was the result of having terrible self-confidence and being introverted. I became introverted due to my move from Indiana to Alabama. I still have a love and hate relationship with this move. I love it for the fact that it showed to not take friends for granted.…

Writing Sample Without a doubt in my mind the best class I have taken in the past two years of my academia was my high school Spanish class. I developed a very good relationship with my instructor Sr. K, that was probably the biggest reason it was my favorite class; However, the way his class was stuctured and how he taught contributed it to being my favorite class in the last two years. We would always start the day with a class plan so everyone would know what was going to take place in class and the next. Sr. k was very detailed in lessons…

When I get to my AP Language class I look around the classroom that has a homey feel to it. Curtains drape over the cold foggy windows in royal red, rimmed with gold shimmering colors. A lamp is turned on, creating a soft glow in the room while the warm smell of pumpkin pie is enough to make it hell for a sleep deprived person to stay awake. I walk to the back of the classroom, and sit exactly in the middle. Then I put my head down, and wait for class to start.…

Graduation speech Juan C “Nothing is over until the moment you stop trying.”- Bryan Dyson Being Comfortable has been a real struggle for me these past years i’ve been here in holmes.6th grade for a 5th grader is scary, not knowing what is coming for you. 7th grade becomes easier because you already have an idea of how junior high is. 8th is all about reflecting over 6th and 7th grade. But it’s not always about problems, stress and sadness, there's also good times, like when we went to camp duncan in 6th grade, when I performed in the V-Show in 7th grade,…

Since starting high school, my interest in classroom learning had dropped quite significantly. I felt like grades were just a game, and that I should be out in the world learning things I deemed "practical life skills." My senior year I was able to mentor in a classroom of fourth graders for one period, ever other day. I took the class thinking it would be an easy and fun way to spend an hour an a half.…

I remember when I was 5, the first time I went to a building daily for 8 hours. I sat down on the cold blue chair. In front of me was a bin of crayons, all the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple. I remember sitting in the cold room and having the freedom to draw marks on my blank sheet of paper. The dye scratching against the table, colors spreading across the canvas like the sun, rising in the early morning.…

I completed my ten-hour class observation at the private school Georgia Military Prep. The Georgia Military Prep School is located on Georgia Military College’s main campus in Milledgeville. At GMC prep I observed Ms. Jennifer Spencer's advanced eighth grade math class. Ms. Spencer has a decidedly pleasant air about her, a quick smile, and a brisk step that belies her ‘let us get the job done’ type attitude. On my first day observing her class, I soon gathered that Ms. Spencer always has a goal in mind when she sets foot in the classroom.…
