I was 10 years old. I looked from the edge of the mat, unaware about the endeavor I was about to take the moment my foot touched that mat. I finally decided to walk on, like they had taught me by bowing, it was the first of a near million times I was going to do this. I was a white belt, at the best taekwondo centers in the area. All the kids, stood to the side eerily silent, waiting for instructions.…
I was born in 1984 and started school in 1989. Watching the movie The Bottom Line in Education 1980 to the Present, gave me a perspective of the Education system while I was growing up. I didn’t realize what my teachers and educators were subjected to. As a child I was very naive, which is what I was supposed to be. I never thought that my school was overcrowded or operating below any standards.…
My Learning Style My learning style is auditory, it can help me learn because all I have to do is make sure I listen and more than likely I will succeed. Also, this will help me in sports because if I listen, then I will always know what to do. Such as, different plays and my teammates advice. In addition, I already read out loud.…
Upon entering my 1st grade classroom, students are welcomed into a multicultural, yet simple world. There are a few maps on the wall and a globe in a corner, and some family photos on my desk. A few simple plants, some with colorful flowers, are placed around the classroom. The seating arrangements include circular tables, with four-to-five students at each table, for work in groups.…
Semester of Learning Experiences People most always say, “ Learn from you mistakes and achievements.” I would definitely conclude that is exactly what I’ve done this first semester of college. There are many times that I wanted to simply curl into a ball because of all the newness and unfamiliarity. At times I found myself doing just that, but realizing that I needed to toughen up burst from my comfort zone. I can say sleeping through your classes never the best choice, not going just because you find it too easy, missing a class just to write a paper for another class, and differentiating between minimal and highly important status of choices.…
I do not plan on transferring as most of my friends have, but I will to push myself to be proud of my decision I have made to stay at BC. I have gained, experience, knowledge, lost, and understand most things that I have been exposed to in my twenty years of life. One goal I have is pass the GKE (General Knowledge Exam). The first step would be to fully understand what the GKE is and what kind of tests I need to do to pass this exam. The second step would be to study as much as possible to ensure a passing score.…
It was a cold, winter morning. The frigid air blew as I turned to pull the handle on the door to the main building of my small high school. After entering the doorway, I dragged my feet across the floor and trudged through the empty hallway. As I peeked through each of the door windows, I saw nothing but dark, empty classrooms. It was not until I looked up that I noticed one lit room at the end of the hall.…
The Dreaded Reading Class It was the first day of third grade. I jumped out of my moms car after kissing her on the cheek and hearing the routine “have a good day”. Jordy, my sister, and I walked in together reminiscing the previous years at Rising Star. Everyone was dressed in their favorite outfit to impress all their friends. Jordy and I fashioned our Limited Too dresses and sparkly back packs.…
I have attended Lowell Elementary School and Grover Washington Jr. Middle School. I am currently enrolled in AP Calculus AB, Pharmacology, AP Psychology, Spanish 4 IB, this class which is Social Science and English. My best friend is Queenie who I’ve known since freshman year. We’ve met in Fundamentals of Science but we did not really talk till we had gym during the 3rd marking period. I really like to write, especially creative writing, I was in English 3 MG Creative Writing last year with Ms. Toliver and I had a lot of fun in the class while my creative writing skills improved with her…
Summer Session I already came to an end. This class flew by so quickly. Since my last class participation assessment, I think I continued to show good work. I tried my best in class. Although all the reading in Mosaic I was amazing, Unit 2 was my favorite.…
Throughout the quarter my writing has strengthen. Last year I honestly had no idea how to write a decent paper. My English teacher was also trying to get her doctorate and she didn’t have the time to be an effective teacher. She tired her best but really shouldn’t have been our teacher. She had to step up because our original teacher flaked out on us, and I really admire her for that.…
Karen grabbed a paper from the writing center and put it on a tray. She reached for a blue chalk with her right hand. She used her left hand to hold the paper. Karen drew a circle then she grabbed a purple chalk and colored in the circle. She told a girl who was sitting next to her “I drew a sad face because you don’t want to be my friend.”…
I have interviewed 4 different people, 2 of which went to catholic school and 2 went to public school. The people I chose to interview was my grandmother grandmom, my other grandmother bopsie one of my family members who i do not know her relationship to me, and my coworker, Sarah. The reason I chose these specific people was I wanted to interview at least 3 adults cause they have more experience with school and life. I also wanted to interview my coworker even though she is only 19 she still has experience in school and a little experience in college.…
This is the problem that I always encounter in my every day class. They are not following directions or pay attention in the discussion. Even I called their name to catch their attention and to listen to the discussion some of the students are still doing unnecessary things. So to cope up with the problem, I change my teaching method.…
The class had ten students from different grades. The classroom itself was right next to a cafeteria sometimes it is noisy. The noises take the attention of the students, especially in oral skills class where the focus is on listening and speaking skills. Every time I start a class, I write the tasks which we will take on the board. I tried to tell the students what the plan is and how to do it, which is more helpful for me and for them.…
