Good Essays
I have never had experiences with online classes until this class. But from what I am seeing it is kind of a hard thing unless you have determination and discipline. I believe I do have this because I want to get an A in this class and start going in my major classes and get out in the working field again. I have been unemployed since April and would like to help my family out when I can.

I started to become increasingly worried about my writing and reading skills after high school. I realized that my writing was needed to be changed, but somehow I did not know where to start or how to do it. I was one of those typical teenage girls that wants to hang out and have fun. I was spoiled and still is and when it came to my education, my mother would always be on my case about it. Entering, I still had a love for writing and reading mysteries and English was something I really enjoyed because I succeeded in it. However, during the first parent-teacher conference, “ Tina…is not really a good student… her writing just isn 't meeting the standards...” is all that I heard. “ Tina… your MAP reading score dropped 10 points, this must be a mistake”, my test scores began to drop again and I did not realize why. I worked and studied strenuously, however, “ This is not an acceptable grade for this class” is all my teachers told me. I began reading huge chapter books and challenging myself to try new things; my English grade continued to remain low.…

My first semester of college has been such a major change from high school because Professor Collins was very detailed about what needs to be fixed and how to fix it. While I was in high school, my English teacher did not do a very good job at giving feedback. Also, having my classmates give ideas on what to write about always played a big part in writing my final draft. I also thought it was a crazy idea when Professor Collins told me that I should read my paper out loud but now I do it for every paper and will continue to do it. My biggest regret this semester was not going to the writing center more and waiting last minute to do my papers.…

I stopped reading all together, maybe picking a book up about once to twice a year if I could find something interesting. I got awful grades in my Language arts classes, and did not even care. I even got to a point where I would be getting in trouble in class, because my eyes would be wandering around the room, trying to find something to occupy my mind. And that was just middle school. As I entered high school, some things may have changed, but my care for English, was still pretty low.…
