Some languages such as Aore, Ifo, Sowa, and Volow have no speakers at all in recent years because of the rise of Bislama, but they are not labeled as extinct yet. The indigenous language spoken by the most number of people within the Republic of Vanuatu is Lenakel, located on Tanna, which is an island in the Tafea province (Ethnologue). The apicolabials in these languages, however, are not consistently in use among the different languages in Vanuatu. This example demonstrates that apicolabials are used in plosives, nasals and fricatives (Maddieson 1987).
