Islam/ Muslim
A faith that was monothestic like Judaiam and Christiany. It's teachings was based off the Qur'an which speaks of allah. However Muslims were ppl who believed that there is one god which is Allh. The meaning of their names is "one who submits to god"
Qur'an
is the book of divine guidance for Muslims. It is the religous text of islam.
5 Pillars of Islam
A term given to the five duties mandatory on every muslim. The practices pertaion to the sunni islam.
.1. Confession of Faith
2. Prayer 5 times a day
3. Charity to the needy
4. Fasting during the Month-long Ramadon
5.Pilgrimage to Mecca at least once during one life time.
Theocracy
A government ruled ruled by immediate divine guildance or by officials who are reguarded as being divinely guided.
Caliphate
A form of government inspired by interpretations of the religion Islam, The 1st 4 calphs were abu bakr umar uthman, ali.
Umayyad
Date:661-750
A dynasty that would enlarge the Islamic empire dramatically, but it would also intensify conflict with the byzantine and Persian empires
Shi'ite/Sunni
One of the two Muslim camps that the muslims made. Sunni Islam is the largest denomination of Islam. The word sunni comes from the word sunnah meaning the words and actions.
Sufi
Islam's mystic missionaries. They had a personal relationship with Allah.
Ottoman Turk
the subdivision of the Ottoman Muslim Millet (today Turkish people) that dominated the ruling class of the Ottoman Empire
Mongols
The Mongol Empire (Mongolian: Монголын Эзэнт Гүрэн (help·info), Mongolyn Ezent Güren or Их Mонгол улс, Ikh Mongol Uls) was an empire from the 13th and 14th century spanning from Eastern Europe across Asia. It is the largest contiguous empire in the history of the world
Middle Ages
A period in History which lasted for a millennium, commonly dated from the fall of the western empire.
Byzantine Empire
The Continuation of the Roman Empire during the Midd Ages centered on the Capital of constantiple and ruled by emperors in direct succession to the acient romman emperors.
Orthodox Christianity
The worlds 2nd largest Christian communion estimated to a # 225 million members. It's considered by it's adhrals to be the one, holy, catholic and Apostolic church esablished by Jesus Christ and His apostle almost 2,000 years.
