The sales associates at JC Penney’s can be provided skill variety, task identity and task importance by clearly definition the tasks and expectations of the employee. Typical tasks include assisting and improving customer experience, reorganizing and restocking merchandise, handle purchases and returns, and maintaining a presentable dressing room and sales floor. These tasks offer a variety of skills including customer service, stock management, and technology. Establishing set procedures when performing these tasks will help establish task identity. For example, if maintaining a presentable dressing room means removing all leftover merchandise from the dressing rooms every hour and restocking them, the employee clearly knows what is expected
