Society has associate illegal immigrants with Latinos. I defined the word illegal immigrant and Dictionary.com has expressed an illegal immigrant as an illegal alien and it’s defined as, a foreigner who has entered or resides in a country unlawfully or without the country 's authorization (Dictonary.com). Latino’s come to U.S to live a better life and live that American dream. A lot of countries in Central America are poverty-stricken. So they see a better life in the U.S. I have chosen to research on this topic because I myself is Latino and it does affect my family. I intend to study about how immigration impacts the psychosocial functioning of Latinos. One famous Republican presidential candidate has made Immigration a hot topic. Donald Trump has his own ideas how to control immigrants. During a presidential debate in June Donald Trump stated, “When Mexico sends its people, they 're not sending their best," Trump said in the speech. "They 're bringing drugs. They 're bringing crime. They 're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people” (Santucci, 2015). I didn’t watch the debate, but once I find out what he said on social media. My mouth just dropped because of the cruel words that he used to describe immigrants. That’s a big problem in society, people think all Hispanic people are Mexicans and that’s not true. It’s an insult if someone says you’re Mexican and you’re not. I have no idea what Donald Trump is thinking. I did some research and found out that his father is a German immigrant. But in Donald Trump’s mind immigrants are Mexican’s. My mother is from El Salvador and when my mother came to the U.S for her first time she was an immigrant and she is not a rapist nor does she do drugs. Trump has also stated, "We 're going to create a whole new system. We 're going to take the system apart. You 're going to get the greatest service of any country because you deserve it," Trump said.
