Rhetorical Analysis Of Donald Trump And The Politics Of Fear '

Good Essays
The slogan that propelled Donald Trump into his influence across the nation, “make America great again,” shows that Trump sees America has fallen downhill and has hopes to improve it. Trump wants to see this country go back to the prosperous country it once was, but he does not know how to filter his words according to most, which makes him seem frightening. Despite Clinton’s accusation about the risk of Donald Trump, his clever use of scare tactics gives voters a sense of security because of his ideas concerning immigration and terrorism.
According to Molly Ball, author of “Donald Trump and the Politics of Fear,” Donald Trump uses fear to his advantage in hopes of winning the presidential election. Today, people in the US are frightened of

David Bennet, a historian, disagrees with the idea that anxiety of illegal immigrants is motivated by the difficulty of finding jobs that are already taken by illegal immigrants (Ball). Ball writes that diversity is the cause for society’s panic because it threatens security and values. I disagree with Bennet and Ball’s views. I think the idea of diversity is a cover up so people do not look selfish when they say they are worried about their jobs. Because undocumented immigrants are willing to be paid less, Americans struggle to compete for the jobs. We have Americans out of work, but foreigners having more jobs than American citizen does not make sense. According to Donald Trump’s website, he wants to “put the needs of working people first” (“Immigration Reform”). This idea leads to Trump’s big plan of building a wall which is needed to prevent illegal immigration. Even though many may think building a wall is rude, I personally think it is just a clever way to prevent undocumented immigrants from entering; however, I do not agree with Trump’s plan to make Mexico pay for the wall. He believes that Mexico is taking advantage of us, but America has always been a country that is willing to help. Even though we are willing to help, we should be stricter about the immigrants that are in this country, and Donald Trump has good ideas to do that. To improve America, Trump’s scare tactics will bring people from different parties and areas of the country to vote for him in this upcoming election. He uses the fears of illegal immigration and terrorism as means of getting people to go vote for him. This election will come down to who can keep U.S. citizens safe, and Trump brings that sense of security to the

Trumps Veil of Ignorance can be based on the idea that he is more committed to solving the United States problems on the home front, and not on a global scale which will eventually come back to bite him. The Veil of Ignorance for Trump is that he isn’t willing to accept the outcome of his choices. In the past decade the world has entered into the idea of globalization, where the world is connected more than every before, not just through technology but also politically. Especially with Trump becoming the next President, whatever happens in Russia will in turn effect the United States under Donald Trump? Because of Trump unethically withdrawing from previous commitments, Trump is undoing years of work done by previous Presidents and not thinking of the long term problems that will happen because of his…

Trump does not think that it is fair for companies to remove their companies from American soil to Canadian or Mexican soil, just for their benefit. That seems to be his base, although he is trying to attract Republicans to support him, his accusations about illegal immigrants is quite backwards. Trump uses “Build a Wall” and “Make America Great Again” as a way to attract people who a completely against immigration in any way. He is pinned as a “racist”, but as one of the leading Republican candidates, building a wall will not solve all of the country 's problems. Trump’s immigration policy will fail because it is racist, his ideas are unrealistic, and he will not be able to successfully deport 11.5 million people. A better immigration policy to implement would be to give people a pathway to citizenship. After all, America was created through immigration. America could better the immigration policy by helping illegal immigrants or people in difficult situations help to get them out of negative situations. The policy would also be improved with a more timely immigration process, rather than huge waitlists and difficult applications.…

Politics and entertainment are two different species, the public will root for an anti hero in a movie, but not as a presidential candidate. Zelizer completely mislabelled Donald Trump, because I, and many Americans believe Donald Trump is a hero, and make vast changes. Americans seek change, rather than an anti-hero, for instance look at Barack Obama, the first African American president. A man who made the American debt three times worse in a matter of eight years. Obama’s slogan centered around change such as “Change” versus “More of the Same”, "Vote for Change", "Change We Can Believe In", "Our Time for Change", "It 's about…

Although this plan made Trump gain some followers, the bottom line is that this proposal has the possibility to start a war. Economists say that this economic policy would do nothing but irritate the world’s second largest economy, and that would be unlikely to provide any benefit to the United States (How 'The Donald ' Could Incite a Trade War) . Donald Trump could no longer keep his composure when asked repeatedly about why he refused to release his tax returns. If the President of the United States cannot keep his cool when possibly dealing with other nation, or even our own, he may be forced to make rash decisions and blurt accidental information. On the other hand, Hillary Clinton has had her fair share of political experience, being first lady and a part of the Obama administration.…

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s bombastic stance on immigration reform has his supporters excited while his opposition views his pledge to build a wall on the US-Mexico border as idle chatter to gain publicity. Most think that Trump’s pledge is just to build a wall, but it involves many other aspects of immigration reform such as; tripling the number of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, finning and deporting people who over stay their visas, making e-verify nation wide program, passing legislation to force employers to hire US citizens, and ending birth-right citizenship. Some of his objectives are feasible and then others are completely ludicrous, for example the border would benefit from employing more ICE…
