I feel like I am a good candidate for this scholarship because, as a senior, any and all money earned and received will help me ease the burden of attending college. My goal throughout my whole childhood was to receive a full ride scholarship to the college of my dreams; however, as time has gone on and I have matured I have come to the realization that, that dream is not as achievable as I once believed it to be. I have worked hard, inside and outside of the classroom, making the grades and creating the resume that colleges are looking for, and in response I have been offered tuition waivers. Which ultimately means I am still responsible for paying for my books, room and board, part of the tuition cost, and mandatory fees.…

Because I am still on my parent's insurance plans, I cannot be considered for any need based financial aid, as my father is a software engineer at Rockwell Collins, though my parents are not financing my education; thus I have come up with a few ideas to keep the threat of accepting loans at bay for a while longer. I believe that I deserve the “Courage to Grow” Scholarship, because I’m very determined and take my education seriously. I’m a fist generation college student, and earned my associates in arts from Longview Community College, and will attend the University of…
