Mortar Board: Personal Statement

I think I should be a part of Mortar Board because I have spent the entirety of my college career working to strengthen my skills in leadership and build on my character. I am very dedicated to my studies, and I make it a priority to excel in all of my classes. While I am already involved in many activities on campus, I am always careful to decide whether I have the time to give to a new organization before joining. I am well aware of the time requirements and level of commitment that would be expected of me as a member of Mortar Board, and I am both able and willing to commit. I think I would be a great addition to Mortar Board because scholarship, leadership, and service are all aspects of my life that are very important to me. I think Mortar Board would benefit from having me as a member because I am very passionate, hardworking, and engaged in what is going on.

2.) How do you show a commitment to scholarship, leadership, and service in your life?

While the time commitment may not be great for every organization I am currently in, I always make sure that I am as involved as I can be. However, I recognize when I am suited for a leadership opportunity and when I am not. In my opinion, part of being a good leader is understanding when to take charge and when to sit back and listen. I take this very seriously in my life. No one is capable of doing everything; however, I believe it is a waste not to do as much as you can. I hold multiple leadership positions at Butler. A few worth mentioning is BASO, BITS, and the Honors Program. All three of these organizations are incredibly important to me which is why I have chosen to step up as a leader within
