Achieving the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship would benefit my family tremendously since I am planning to go to the University of St. Thomas in Houston which is a private 4-year university meaning it will costly compare to public postsecondary institutions. Additionally, the scholarship provides a 5,000 dollar four-year renewable scholarship and it will be a great financial assistance towards my tuition to strive for Bachelor’s degree. I need this scholarship to help me fund for my attendance to college. Due to my parent’s income, I will not receive a substantial amount of financial aid because their income range is not considered to be financially need based which many scholarships look for. However, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo allows me to show why I need this scholarship which makes me so eager to do my best to express my financial situations at my home without just looking at my parents’ income dictating whether I should obtain the scholarship or not.

If I win this scholarship, I will not only benefit myself to achieve a postsecondary education without financial anxieties, it will help my parents have more money to provide for a six-member household. Moreover, providing care to my elderly grandparents is costly which ranges to their food to medications to keep them healthy. In addition, I have a brother who will go to college after I graduate from college attaining a Bachelor’s degree which means my parents need provide more more money to pay for his college tuition. Overall, we need a vast amount of money to pay for necessities in our big family under a two-story home which the bills to maintain that home is very high.
