Tom Morello got his interests in politics early, considering the fact that both of his parents were activists. Morello's paternal side has history on the world of politics in Kenya. His father was a participant in the Mau Mau Uprising. He also served as the first Kenyan ambassador to the United Nations. His uncle, Jomo Kenyatta, was the first ever officially elected president of Kenya. It is significant that Morello's family is the root of his political interests. Furthermore, Morello is a member of the labor union group named "The Industrial Workers of the World. It promotes the idea that all industrial workers should be united as a social class to replace capitalism with industrial democracy. Morello is the co-founder of the non-profit organization
