Twenty first century America is experiencing a higher rate of shootings, the murder of innocent lives, and gun related homicides than ever before. Crimes like these occur in many ways. Mass shootings and gun homicides are two main ways these occur. Additionally, these killings occur throughout society in places that should be safe such as movie theaters, night clubs, and schools. In the United States in 2015, a total of 372 mass shootings occurred. These incidents resulted in killing 475 individuals and injuring 1,870 more (Oldham 2016). It is quite clear that these numbers are too high. If nothing is done to prevent these numbers from continuing to rise, America will shortly become a place that nowhere is safe including people’s own homes. If citizens cannot feel safe in their own home, America will have lost everything it stands for. Fortunately, there are ways this can be combatted in order to increase security and safety in the US. In the interest of a safer country, The United States Congress should limit gun control because the right to own guns is a constitutional right, guns might contribute to more personal protection, and a decrease in the number of mass shootings in society.
With more guns in society, mass shootings and gun violence could be less prone to occur due to more citizens with the capability of preventing the crime and providing themselves with personal protection. This is a main reason why gun control should be very restricted. In the world…
