The overall purpose of the gun control policy is to reduce the number of guns getting into the hands of people who are not legally licensed. Depending on the state, it also may or may not be required that you do a background check or have a license for gun purchases. For example, in the New York State, background check and having a licensed for gun purchases is required. However, in a state like Florida, background checks or having a license for gun purchases is not required. Despite this idea of background checks for gun purchases, there is also this idea of high-capacity magazine ban that prohibits people from selling and owning guns with high capacity as they are able to kill people rapidly because they do not need to be reloaded as fast.

Another strength of this recommendation is that once people who are licensed are caught giving or selling a gun to people who are not licensed, they themselves can have their license taken away. Although this will not get rid of the guns that are already put there, this could reduce the number of firearm sellers. If their license is being taken away after the first time that they are caught, they are not legally allowed anymore to purchase a gun. Since they are not allowed to legally purchase a gun, they will also not have any guns to sell or give.
The weakness of this recommendation, however, is that is not every state require a license to purchase a gun. As a way to maybe address that, we should set a law stating that every state is required to have their citizen be licensed to purchase a gun. Although it is obvious that guns are deadly weapons and it needs to be taken with precautions, people continue to misuse guns, which is why being further educated can help reduce that. Guns are also getting into the hands of kids.
