A very wise and magical man named Walt Disney once said, “if you can dream it, you can do it” (Coombs, 2015). I have had many different jobs over the years, even a stint working for the Walt Disney Company, but ever since I was a little girl I have been dreaming of what my career could be. Now that I am an adult, and I use the term loosely since it still takes some getting used to view myself as an adult, I am very excited about planning my career.

Effective management teams set goals for their employees to achieve each year. One of my goals for 2016 in my department is to develop my leadership skills but running a kaizen event. In order to conduct a kaizen you need to have excellent leadership skills. A kaizen displays a process flow from beginning to end. It could involve meeting with people from within your department as well as different departments and working together to ensure the most efficient processes are in effect. After walking through the process and making improvements when needed all of our findings are presented to the departments involved and sometimes outside departments are invited to view the presentation. As a child I dreamed of many different careers from a lawyer, teacher, journalist, author and even a pop star. I never thought I would end up working where I do in the position that I am in. However, I could not be more grateful for the opportunities that I have been given. It is very refreshing to know that I still have plenty of options and exciting to see where the job that I am in now will take me.
