I am an ordinary independent college student, born and raised in Houston, Texas. I officially became independent at the age of twenty-two, currently now twenty-three and since day one of being on my own my lifestyle has completely changed me into a different person than what I was before. My personality has two sides. I can be calm, relaxed, and passive or outgoing, energetic, and courageous. In my spare time I enjoy reading books, I listen to music, go shopping, clean, and exercise. Typically my weekends consist of me being with friends and boyfriend just hanging out or going out to enjoy life a little. At the age of fifteen I started to work for a small home business, after that I worked for Abercrombie and Fitch, then as a waitress in a seafood restaurant, then as a medical assistant, now administrative assistant. Throughout my employment experience I started to consider owning a small business or to work for a major business company and that’s when I decided to major in business, in the field of general business/ business administration. …show more content…

The careers that my personality fits into are health, teaching, and office manager. From reading the results of the career assessment I have to agree that the description fits my personality because as an introvert I tend to focus on my thoughts and interest more and minimize communication with others. This meant I was finally able to go out on my own and not rely on others to take me places anymore. In the year of 2016, I also began taking classes at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute to earn college credits.…

At the beginning of the semester I was somewhat intimated by the amount of course work that was expected of each student in this class. However, as time went on and I started to complete the assignments, it became clear how useful many of them were, particularly the resume and the career exploration paper. Both of these assignments were beneficial in their own way, despite the time and effort that went in to completing them according to the instructions. The resume and subsequent critiques from multiple sources yielded a professional document that is flawless and ready to be disseminated to potential employers after a minor customization to it based upon the job description and requirements. The career exploration assignment has taught me how…

Independence plays a tremendous role in growing up. As adolescents, we learn how to be independent, from parents, guardians, and teachers, to prepare for adulthood. In the end of my sophomore year of high school, my parents went out of town for a few days to go up to Maine with their friends. They left me and my brothers, who are both adults, home alone. The last time they left for a few days, I had to stay with a babysitter.…

As an individual who was enormously pampered by her parents and greatly relied on her parents for everything throughout her life, moments that required me to become independent really pushed me to think for myself and work hard. From travelling to India alone at the age of eight to moving away for college, I had to make sure that my emotional ties to my parents wouldn’t prevent me from being independent and innovative. I refused to let life walk all over me, and instead pushed myself to overcome my fears and become my personal best. At such moments, I didn’t depend on my family to help me adjust to the new living environments, but rather took it upon myself to stay organized, plan out my day, and create my own living space. Instead of acting courageous and exclaiming how easy the transition would be, I acknowledged it would be difficult and focused more on getting myself back on my two feet.…

The questions were much more motivation based instead of interest based. For me, interest based tests are unreliable, considering the fact that I am interested in everything.…
